Singaraja- Undiksha’s Jelantik-Jempiring Scout Student Activity Unit not only actively carries out activities on campus to strengthen members’ capacity. Beyond that, this student organization also carries out activities that benefit the community environment through community service programs.
This community service program was conducted through mangrove planting at Batu Togog Temple Beach, Pejarakan Village, Gerokgak Sub-district, Buleleng Regency, and blood donation activities in collaboration with the PMI Buleleng Blood Donor Unit. In addition, there was also melukat (Purifying body and mind) with the members. This activity took place on February 8 and 9, 2023.
The Committee head, Ni Ketut Ariswari, explained that 3 thousand mangrove seedlings were planted as an effort to preserve coastal areas to anticipate abrasion due to sea waves and climate change management, as well as protection of coastal ecosystems. Meanwhile, blood donation activity is a form of humanity. “Melukat as a form of spiritual purifying of self, mind, and soul,” she explained.
This activity is a form of implementation of the Tri Hita Karana philosophy, how members of the Student Activity Unit are invited to maintain good relations with God (parahyangan), others (pawongan), and the environment (palemahan). “The essence of this activity is harmony,” he said.
The activity has been routinely carried out every year. It is expected to provide benefits for the community, environment, and members. (hms/rls)
