Singaraja- Teacher Professional Education (PPG) Pre-service University of Ganesha Education (Undiksha) students in 2022 are invited to carry out social service activities at the Ananda Sevadharma Orphanage, Sangsit Village, Sawan District, Buleleng, Saturday (29/4/2023). This activity is one form of implementation of the Character Strengthening program.
This social service activity was filled with the delivery of food aid to the orphanage. Apart from that, they also carry out games with the orphanage children to build cooperation and discipline. The activity companion conveyed that this activity was a form of implementing a character-strengthening program which is a mandatory program from the Ministry of Education and Culture. This activity is expected to provide benefits for the orphanage.
The supervisor of the Ananda Sevadharma Orphanage, I Ketut Somayasi, positively welcomed this activity. According to him, the attention of educational institutions is a form of service in the framework of realizing better orphanages.
Currently, it is caring for 51 children, most of whom live in dormitories. In addition to food aid, according to him, the assistance that is still needed is education costs, especially higher education. It is hoped that there will be scholarships allocated by universities.
In particular, Somayasi appreciated the implementation of this character-strengthening activity because it is in line with the Orphanage’s vision, which is to create a young generation that is reliable, physically healthy, mentally strong, and spiritually improving.
One PPG student, Dewa Putu Wira Adi, stated that this character-strengthening activity was very beneficial for him. The values obtained can later be applied to students after they enter school to become professional teachers. The visit to the Orphanage also taught him to always be grateful for having a decent life, and being able to get a higher education.
This character-strengthening activity is held regularly every week. It’s just that the forms are different. Previously, Undiksha Pre-service PPG students were invited to care for the environment and so on. (hms)
