Singaraja- The Student Executive Board (BEM) of the Student Republic of Ganesha University of Education (Undiksha) Singaraja returned to participate in the XIII National Conference of All Indonesian Student Executive Boards on 3-10 February 2020 at the University of Mataram. This meeting is an annual event to evaluate the one-year management performance of the BEM SI Alliance, establish a new management structure and work orientation, accommodate the intellectual ideas of students from all over Indonesia, and strengthen relations between BEMs throughout Indonesia.
This conference carried the theme “Knitting the Dynamics of Struggle as Youth Optimization for a Sovereign Indonesia”. Through this, all BEMs who are members of BEM SI are expected to be able to reap and fight for the rights of the people’s interests to the nation’s issues that are currently developing. This meeting was attended by 125 BEM and 259 people.
The interesting thing at the national meeting this time was the return of BEM Rema Undiksha to join the alliance which had been on “hiatus” since 2017-2019. By sending his top diplomat, Gusti Made Suhartana who is often called Gustav from the Department of Law and Citizenship and currently serves as the Directorate General of Foreign Relations. After going through a long series of debates which was quite draining of emotions, energy, and thoughts, BEM Rema Undiksha finally got a strategic position. The representative sent earlier took a position statement to support Jakarta State University as the central coordinator of the BEM SI.
The committee was elected including Central Coordinator: UNJ, Higher Education Coordinator: UNSOED, Basic Education Coordinator: UNS, Media Coordinator: UJB, Women Coordinator: UNAND, Law and Human Rights Coordinator: UNIDA, Infrastructure Coordinator: USU, Environment Coordinator: UNRI, Maritime Coordinator: PENS Surabaya, Economic Coordinator: UNNES, Agriculture Coordinator: IPB, Health Coordinator: Palembang Poltekes. Then where is Undiksha’s position? After considering and reviewing the current state of BEM Rema, Gustav expressed his intention to join the DIKDASMEN (Secondary Basic Education) issue coordinator with other members of UNY, UPGRIS, UNP, and Adzkia’s STKIP. It is hoped that in the future it will be able to develop tasks and establish good cooperation with all BEMs in Indonesia. (rls)
