Singaraja- Another proud achievement was made by Undiksha students at the national level. In the Advance Science Olympiad 2021 event organized by the Indonesian Science Olympiad Training (POSI) on July 17-18, Undiksha, represented by Rendi Aprian from the Chemistry Study Program, won three medals, namely a silver medal in the chemical and earth fields, and a gold medal in historical field.
In this event, of course, good reasoning skills are needed, therefore Rendi, as he is familiarly called, admitted that it took two weeks to prepare in the chemical field, while for other fields there was not much preparation. “History and geography I read more books to increase my knowledge. Moreover, I am from the chemistry study program, of course I want to be more optimal in the chemistry field in order to get satisfactory results. However, the results say otherwise, in fact, the historical field got good results,” Monday on July 26th, 2021.
With the experience gained when participating in competitions during high school, Rendi taught himself to prepare for the 174 participants, consisting of 100 participants in the earth sciences and 214 participants in chemistry from various universities in Indonesia.
Even during the pandemic, which caused the event to be held online, this did not dampen the enthusiasm of this 2002-born student to carry the name of Undiksha at the national level. He admitted that he was very interested in participating in this prestigious event because it was in accordance with his college major, namely chemistry. However, he admits that there are difficulties in participating in the Advance Science Olympiad 2021 competition. “There are still some materials that I don’t understand and I have explored things that I don’t understand. Especially in the field of chemistry which must be deepened,” he explained.
In the future, Rendi hopes to be able to participate in more competitions and win in other competitions. “Hopefully in the future chemistry can get a gold medal, for the field of history hopefully we can defend the champion in the next competition. Even though history is not a science that I study in lectures,” said this second semester student. (hms)
