Badung-Ganesha University of Education (Undiksha) is preparing to take a step further in 2025. A number of strategic programs in various aspects are starting to be designed. This was discussed through a Focus Group Discussion (FGD) on Program Determination and Budget Allocations for 2025 which took place in Kuta, Badung Regency from 3 to 5 December 2023.
In this FGD which was attended by all leaders in the Undiksha environment, the Chancellor of Undiksha, Prof. Dr. I Wayan Lasmawan, M.Pd emphasized that Undiksha continues to strive to move forward in order to accelerate the realization of the vision of “Becoming a Superior University in Asia by 2045 Based on Tri Hita Karana”.
There are two targets that are expected to be realized by 2025. First, the transformation of Undiksha from the Public Service Agency Financial Management State University (PTN-PKBLU) to become a Legal Entity PTN (BH). This transformation provides freedom to manage and develop oneself more flexibly, with quality and competence. Undiksha has made a series of efforts to realize this target, starting from strengthening documents, strengthening financial governance, and improving facilities and infrastructure to strengthening the implementation of the Tri Dharma of Higher Education. This strategic step continues to be strengthened and will become a priority program in 2025.
The second target is to accelerate the realization of Undiksha’s vision through strengthening cooperation in the Asian region. This is also an effort to realize the Chancellor’s vision, namely making Undiksha an internationally reputable University in Education and Leadership (IRUEL). “I hope that all Undiksha academics with such intelligent human resources, I am not worried that in 2025, Undiksha can make IRUEL a reality,” said Prof. Lasmawan.
This FGD was filled with an explanation of the direction and policies of higher education by the Secretary of the Directorate General of Higher Education, Ministry of Education and Culture, Prof. Tjitjik Sri Tjahjandarie, Ph.D. The important point conveyed is that programs designed by universities must be able to contribute to realizing a golden Indonesia in 2045. Undiksha is expected to make the biggest and most significant contribution to preparing superior and competitive human resources.
Meanwhile, a member of the Undiksha Supervisory Board, Iwan Handoko, assessed that Undiksha’s development has shown a positive trend as seen from its various achievements, one of which is financial management. It is hoped that this achievement can be maintained and continuously improved.
He also supports Undiksha to transform into PTN-BH. Undiksha is expected to maintain accountability in budget management and improve the performance of education services.
Specifically for the transformation of PTN-BH, Undiksha also invited the Chancellor of the Bogor Agricultural Institute (IPB) Prof. Dr. Arif Satria, S.P., M.Si, and Chancellor of Surabaya State University (Unesa), Prof. Dr. Nurhasan, M.Kes for sharing good practices. These two chancellors stated that the basic capital that a university must have to become a PTN-BH is self-confidence or optimism and a change in the mindset of the academic community. Having the status of PTN-BH, universities are considered to have many advantages and conveniences and to be more resilient. In this case, higher education innovation needs to continue to be improved, especially in research that can become the source of funding and have a positive impact on society. (hms)
