The Physics Education Department Student Association (HMJ) Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, Ganesha Education University again held the 2018 MAFIA Chess Championship (MCC). The event was also attended by the Deputy for Student Affairs and FMIPA Alumni, the Head of the Physics Education Department, PERCASI, MPM, BEM, and the head of HMJ within FMIPA. This is to attract chess athletes.
Deputy Dean III FMIPA, I Nyoman Sukarta, S.Pd, M.Sc., when opening the event, said that this championship was also a medium for sharpening reasoning skills towards an intelligent and sporty young generation. “This is to hone brain abilities. “We hope that through this championship we can give birth to a smart generation and get reliable chess athletes,” he said.
Participants in this championship come from schools in Buleleng Regency. SD/MI level 47 people, SMP/MTs 23 people, SMA/SMK/MA 5 people. Apart from that, 57 participants also came from students from FMIPA. The championship, which took place at the Undiksha Auditorium, competed for 3 rector’s rotating trophies, 1 dean’s rotating trophy, 12 permanent trophies, certificates, and coaching money. (hms)
