Singaraja- Ganesha University of Education (Undiksha) students strive to contribute to the world of education through creative ideas. One of them is by creating Mathematics Pop-Up Book media based on Augmented Reality. This learning media is used to facilitate the learning activities of students with special needs in the form of autism.
This learning media was created by the Community Service Student Creativity Program (PKM-PM) team consisting of Ni Wayan Ayu Kesumawati, Riski Tiar Ananda, I Made Dion Permana, and Ni Kadek Sri Damayanti from the Mathematics Education Study Program, and Ni Made Niken Damayanti from the Mathematics Education Study Program. Information Systems. This team was coached by a lecturer, I Made Suarsana, S.Pd., M.Sc.
The team leader, Ayu Kusumawati, explained that learning media had been implemented at the Buleleng 2 Public Special School (SLB). The idea of this creative idea is inseparable from the difficulties experienced by autistic students in calculating and visualizing shapes in mathematics, especially those that are abstract in nature. “Therefore, the use of learning media is very necessary. The use of interactive learning media that combines audio and visual is more effectively used in teaching autistic children,” she explained Thursday (8/9/2022).
Training for the implementation of learning media has been carried out which is packaged in a program entitled “Educational Lanterns”. There were 10 teachers as participants. All of them were invited to practice directly in making Mathematics Pop-Up Book media based on Augmented Reality.
This program, it is hoped that it will have a positive impact on teachers at SLB Negeri 2 Buleleng. In addition, it can attract autistic students to learn mathematics. The teachers also gave a positive response to this learning innovation. (rls/hms)
