The Department of English Education, Faculty of Languages and Arts (FBS) Ganesha Education University (Undiksha) again held Technical Assistance, on Wednesday (21/11/2018). The event with the theme “Children Literacy Development in the 21st Century Learning” invited speakers from The Ohio State University at Newark, Adrian Rodgers, Ph.D. He explained and provided the latest information about the development of children’s literacy in the 21st century, which is an important factor in educational development.
Chairman of the Committee, Gede Mahendrayana, S.Pd., M.Pd., said that the event which took place in the FBS building was to enrich the knowledge and experience of lecturers and students majoring in English education regarding the development of children’s literacy as a success factor in language education. “Apart from that, it is also to build a network and collaboration in the academic world from various sectors, especially in the education sector,” he said.
It was further stated that holding this activity would have many impacts. In the short term, it is hoped that there will be more information and literacy-based learning patterns. Meanwhile, in the long term, this academic activity can be held again in accordance with developments and innovations in the world of education. “This is the main foundation for the institution in its efforts to become an institution of excellence and character in the future at the local, national, regional, and international levels,” he stressed. This activity was attended by 75 people, consisting of Undiksha lecturers and students who were interested in literacy development. (hms)
