Singaraja-Ganesha University of Education (Undiksha) also commemorated the 95th Youth Pledge Day through a flag ceremony, on Saturday (28/10/2023). Undiksha Chancellor, Prof. Dr. I Wayan Lasmawan, M.Pd emphasized that this commemoration needs to be used as momentum to instill love for the nation and state, especially by the younger generation.
It is said, the Youth Pledge is a historic day for the revival of Indonesian national unity. Of course, this meaning will not diminish, and will not experience abrasion as long as Indonesian youth are truly able to embody, interpret, and act out the spirit that has been exemplified by the youth in 1928 in the era of Now. “Because advances in technological science are one of the triggers for the birth of the industrial revolution and societal disruption while adhering to the youthful spirit of fighting attitude, of course, we will never be afraid as a nation,” he stressed.
Prof. Lasmawan believes that as the meaning of youth spirit is strengthened, the steps taken to advance Indonesia will become more established and accelerated. Of course, provided that the synergy of all components of the nation is a prerequisite. On the other hand, he sees that the current younger generation has experienced several changes related to their perspective on the dynamics of the times. Therefore, the process of internalization or the process of cultivating love for the nation and state must not be stopped. “We must continue to proclaim it, we must do it more massively, more structured so that the children of this nation will truly become the front gate, the main foundation for the integrity of the Indonesian nation and state,” he said.
Undiksha as an educational institution strives to produce a superior young generation through several strategic steps. Such as preparing relevant curricula, increasing institutional capacity, improving human resources, and organizing service system regulations. “We at Undiksha are currently improving, especially as Undiksha is currently preparing itself for the process of becoming a Legal Entity State University. Of course, this process is also part of an effort to prepare us to be able to produce a competent, professional, and tough young generation. “So this is in line with the vision and mission of Indonesian national development,” he concluded.
