Singaraja- In the era of information technology, the publication of scientific articles is a way to promote ideas, thoughts, and other innovations so that they can be utilized by the wider community. One of these opportunities can be carried out by teachers, especially in the field of sports. However, behind this, the teacher’s skills in writing articles still tend to be lacking. Academics from the Ganesha University of Education (Undiksha) responded to this condition through the Community Service Program (PkM) on 6 and 7 August 2021.
The service team consists of Dr. Made Agus Dharmadi, M.Pd., Dr. I Gusti Lanang Agung Parwata, M.Kes., and Ni Putu Dwi Sucita Dartini, M.Pd. All three are from the Coaching Education Study Program, Physical Education Study Program, and Faculty of Sports and Health. The team leader, Agus Dharmadi, explained that the service began with interviews with a number of teachers in Bali. Problems were revealed related to difficulties in promotion due to a lack of understanding regarding the fulfillment of scientific publications in the required credit numbers. “Almost most of the teachers stated that skills in writing articles were lacking. That’s why training in writing needs to be done. So that teachers can make scientific articles to fulfill the elements of publication and also the elements of self-development,” he explained.
Delivered further, this activity was attended by 50 sports teachers from regencies/cities in Bali. Its implementation online is filled with presentations, article writing, and publication training, as well as assistance to teachers who have scientific articles to be published in journals with ISSN. “Training is given from the initial process to publication,” he explained.
The teacher welcomed this activity enthusiastically and hoped that it could be carried out regularly. “Teachers’ understanding increases after being given training. This is shown by the survey results in answering questions after the teachers received training,” said Agus Dharmadi.
He hopes that this activity can contribute to education, especially physical education and sports. Besides that, it can also increase teacher professionalism in the context of practicing science, technology, and skills for quality improvement. “We also hope that through this activity, teachers can increasingly produce something useful for education and culture,” he added.
