Singaraja- The Faculty of Languages and Arts (FBS) at the Ganesha University of Education (Undiksha) held a working meeting for the 2021 fiscal year, Thursday (30/1/2020). Clustering remains a priority program to be rolled out. This was conveyed by the Dean of FBS, Prof. Dr. I Made Sutama, M.Pd., after opening the meeting which took place at the Nitisastra Room on the local campus.
Faculty clustering support in increasing university clustering, both at the national and international levels. Sutama stated that he had designed a number of programs related to this, namely the establishment of a study program online journal management unit, and a research assistance unit and journal article writing. “Through the formation of this unit, we hope that in the future more and more articles will be published in reputable or accredited journals,” he explained.
The development of online learning is also included as a priority program to support clustering. Currently, information technology-based learning has been implemented by a number of lecturers. Previously, a special workshop was also held by presenting speakers from the Ministry of Research, Technology, and Higher Education. “This study is an effort to expand student access,” he said.
Undiksha currently has the status of a Public Service Agency (BLU). In line with that, there needs to be independence in generating Non-Tax State Revenue (PNBP). FBS pays serious attention to this through the development of business incubators and labor exchanges. One that is considered potential is in the form of cooperation with foreign parties in fulfilling labor needs. “We are currently studying the problem of elderly care workers in Japan. We have created a special unit for this business incubator and job fair,” said Sutama.
Clusterization cannot be separated from student affairs. In the 2021 fiscal year, student creativity programs and student entrepreneurship programs will still be included as a priority scale for development. “Currently the student affairs program still needs to be improved. We want to be able to do better in the future,” said this academic from Ubud, Gianyar.
As part of a tertiary institution, the faculty which is located on Jalan A. Yani Singaraja has also taken steps to form study units/groups related to the Tri Dharma of Higher Education, covering education and teaching, research, and community service. “Of course, the studies we do cannot be separated from the faculty. It has to do with art and language,” he explained.
The internationalization at home program was launched by the Rector of Undiksha in 2019. Sutama emphasized that the program was already running in the faculties, such as the Indonesian Language Education Study Program and the English Language Education Study Program. However, his party continues to make efforts to increase the number of students from abroad through maximum promotions. “It’s been working,” he added.
The meeting included presentations from the Head of the Undiksha General Affairs and Finance Bureau, Ni Luh Wayan Yasmiati, S.H. She emphasized that programs designed by faculties must be in line with the rector’s vision and mission and work contracts with ministries. From the budget side, they are also asked to prioritize accountability and efficiency. “This needs attention. How can the budget allocation be in accordance with the planned program, “she said. Meanwhile, the Head of the Bureau of Academic, Student Affairs, Planning and Cooperation (AKPK), Drs. I Made Yasa who became the second speaker emphasized improving the quality of human resources in university development. “With the current era, mastery of foreign languages is necessary for employees. FBS, which is a place for language development, can provide attention,” he said. (hms)
