Singaraja- The Men’s Adult 45 KM Hiking Competition, a series of commemorations of the Republic of Indonesia’s Independence Day which had been in a vacuum for two years due to the Covid-19 pandemic, will be held again in 2022 in Buleleng Regency. In the event that the community has been waiting for, the University of Education of Ganesha (Undiksha) also participated by fielding a team. Their participation is not solely to win a championship, but more than that to awaken the fighting spirit and build sportsmanship.
Just like the previous two years, the hike to welcome RI’s 77th independence day started at the Celukan Bawang Village Football Field, Gerokgak District, Buleleng Regency, which started at 21.00 WITA. There were 31 teams participating, coming from students, youth organizations, and the Regional Apparatus Organization (OPD) of Buleleng Regency.
This competition was very lively. It can be seen from the enthusiasm of the people who witnessed directly in the field. The atmosphere was very lively and gave each other enthusiasm for the participants. This atmosphere continued after the release ceremony which was initiated by the Regent of Buleleng, Putu Agus Suradnyana, S.T. The crowds were also unstoppable along the protocol roads that were passed by the participants. The crowd poured in to watch. Not a few also turned on music and national songs to ignite the enthusiasm of the participants. Fiery enthusiasm was also shown by the participants. With steps that are straight and full of cohesiveness, an action that precedes one another is inevitable.
Chancellor of Undiksha, Prof. Dr. I Nyoman Jampel, M.Pd., who attended the release ceremony with the Deputy Chancellor for Student Affairs, Public Relations, and Alumni, Prof. Dr. I Wayan Suastra, M.Pd., expressed his appreciation for the enthusiasm of the participants to take part in this event which only exists in Buleleng Regency. To the Undiksha team, he stressed
the main thing to do is to build sportsmanship. “Because winning is important, but what’s more important is sportsmanship. If by sportsmanship we can win it will be extraordinary,” he said.
In this competition, Undiksha got the chest number 12 and was the first to touch the finish point at the Bhuana Patra Sports Arena, Singaraja City with a complete formation. His success in taking about 7 hours of travel was greeted with enthusiasm from the supporters. (hms)
