Singaraja-Universitas Pendidikan Ganesha (Undiksha) prepared for the Overseas Teaching Practicum Internship (PLP-LN) phase II in 2022. One of the steps is to synergize with a number of schools in the Buleleng Regency. A meeting was held to discuss the matter in Ganesha II Room at Undiksha Rectorate on Friday (20/5/2022).
There were 25 schools invited to collaborate by Undiksha, consisting of elementary level up to senior high school/vocational school. Most of the schools were located in Singaraja City. Undiksha’s Vice-Rector of Academic and Partnership, Dr. Gede Rasben Dantes, S.T., M.T.I., officially opened the technical meeting of the overseas practicum programme, which will be started in August 2022. The programme will be joined by several overseas students who are in partnership with Undiksha. “We accept students from our partnership who wants to do their teaching practicum in Singaraja through Undiksha,” stated him.
Through this meeting, Undiksha and schools strengthen their coordination and preparation needed by the overseas partnership, such as study fields that will be offered and teachers who will be in charge. Rasben Dantes accompanied by the Head of Institute for Learning Development and Quality Assurance Undiksha (LP3M), Prof. Dr. I Made Ardana, M.Pd., ensured that students’ overseas arrival could bring positive impact for the academic and international experience for teachers and students. s well as Undiksha’s lecturers who will accompany the internship programme. That is why we have to collect every headmaster in Singaraja so that they would also experience the benefit of overseas students and Undiksha that will be immersed with them, “added him.
The implementation of this program received positive responses, one of which was by the Head of SMKN Bali Mandara, I Wayan Agustiana, S. Pd., M. Pd. the presence of international students is considered very helpful in improving the competence of their students, including in mastering foreign languages. This had been proven in PLP LN phase I. In the first phase, SMK Bali Mandara collaborated to accept these students at school but online. It also improves the quality of teachers and students at SMK Bali Mandara as it can improve the quality of their language,” he explained.
He also added that the school also has a dormitory which can later be used as a place for residence by overseas students. In the first phase, PLP-LN Undiksha was followed by 30 students placed at the Laboratory School Undiksha, SMA N 1 Singaraja, and SMKN Bali Mandara. This programme was one of the internationalization at home programme launched by Undiksha in 2022. Furthermore, Undiksha also sent several students to partner universities abroad to take the same programme.
This meeting was attended by the Head of the Academic, Student, Planning, and Partnership Bureau of Undiksha, Drs. Made Yasa, M.Pd., Head of PLP Center of Undiksha, Dr. Dewa Bagus Sanjaya, M.Si, Head of Partnership and Public Relation of Undiksha, Made Windu Antara Kesiman, S.T., M.Sc., Ph.D., accompanied by his secretary Putu Ayu Prabawati Sudana, S.Pd., M.Hum.
