Singaraja-Ganesha University of Education (Undiksha) as one of the Education Personnel Education Institutions (LPTK) in Indonesia does not only hold regular student admissions. In 2021, this superior accredited tertiary institution is also entrusted with organizing the Recognition of Prior Learning Program or “Recognition of Prior Learning” (RPL). This national program, which is under the auspices of the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology, is a process of acknowledging one’s learning achievements in the past, either through formal or non-formal education.
At the coordination meeting, Thursday (22/7/2021), Undiksha Deputy Chancellor for Academic and Cooperation, Dr. Gede Rasben Dantes, S.T., M.T.I., explained that in this program, Undiksha received permits in six study programs, namely S-1 Accounting, S-1 Informatics Engineering Education, S-1 Family Welfare Education, S-1 Electrical Engineering Education, S- 1 Chemistry, and S-1 English Education. “Undiksha is one of the LPTK universities that received grants for this program,” he explained.
This program is intended for people who are already working in the world of education, the private sector, and government or companies. Education is taken more quickly because of the conversion of credits through formal and non-formal education previously. “This program aims to increase people’s access to higher education. In addition, the community has experience in submitting learning outcomes that they already have to obtain academic credit. No less important, this program is to encourage people to learn for life,” he said.
Students who register and are accepted into the program later continued Rasben Dantes, will be given subsidized tuition assistance for one semester. “Hopefully this program can further increase public interest in improving their educational qualifications,” he added. Meanwhile, the Chief Executive of the Program, Dr. I Gusti Lanang Agung Parwata, S.Pd., M.Kes., explained specifically at Undiksha, RPL is held for D-1, D-2, and D-3 graduates with a minimum of two years work experience. This academic from Karangasem Regency added a quota of 120 prospective students, with details of S-1 accounting for 32 people, S-1 Informatics Engineering Education for 26 people, S-1 Family Welfare Education for 10 people, S-1 Electrical Engineering Education for 10 people, S-1 -1 Chemistry 10 people, and S-1 English Education 32 people. “We hope that people who are already working and who want to continue their education, improve their educational qualifications, can take part in this program,” he concluded.
