Singaraja- The quality of sports coaches and referees, one of which is volleyball, is of concern to the Faculty of Sports and Health (FOK) at Ganesha Education University (Undiksha). To improve this, special training was held in collaboration with the management of the Indonesian Volleyball Association (PBVI) Bali, from 21 to 24 March 2019.
Deputy Dean III FOK, I Kadek Happy Kardiawan, S.Pd., M.Pd after opening the event delivered the training which was attended by 18 coaches and 18 referees as an effort to increase professionalism, so that they can accompany athletes at certain events, such as Sports Week Province. “From this, we hope that there will be professional coaches and referees. “The licensed one,” he said.
So far, there are still trainers whose abilities need to be improved. When training, we still use traditional methods. According to him, this needs to be corrected. Coaches not only understand techniques but also have ethics, nutrition, and the history of sports, one of which is volleyball. “If you master that, I think you would be ideal as a coach,” he explained.
He also hopes that increasing competency will not only be done through this training. However, there are ongoing efforts. Likewise for other sports. “There needs to be an effort to explore more capabilities. “Techniques can be developed,” he added. (hms)
