Ganesha University of Education (Undiksha) and Xinyang Normal University held a signing of cooperation for the development of the Balingkang Confucius Institute on July 4, 2023. In this activity, Undiksha leadership was represented by the Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs and Cooperation, Prof. Dr. Gede Rasben Dantes, S.T., M.T.I, and Prof. Dr. I Nyoman Jampel, M.Pd. Also present were former Chinese consul general in Denpasar and director of the Chinese Public Diplomacy Association, Gou Haodong, Chancellor of Xinyang Normal University, Prof. Li Jun, and vice-chancellor, Yu Benhai.
The arrival of Undiksha representatives was welcomed by the Chancellor of Xinyang Normal University, Prof. Li Jun. He said that based on the strong foundation of long-term friendship between China and Indonesia, the two universities jointly established the Balingkang Confucius Institute, which will further promote cultural exchanges and mutual learning between the two countries. Apart from that, it is also to increase understanding and friendship between the two countries, as well as make new contributions to encourage greater development of China-Indonesia friendly relations and people-to-people ties between China and Indonesia.
Undiksha Chancellor Prof. Dr. I Wayan Lasmawan., M.Pd via video said that the construction of the Balingkang Confucius Institute had opened up new avenues for cooperation and educational exchange between the two universities. He hopes that both parties can collaborate in various fields, both knowledge and culture and student exchanges. Undiksha Vice Chancellor, Prof. Rasben Dantes said that there are many similarities between Undiksha and Xinyang University, as well as many opportunities for collaboration. He also emphasized that Undiksha will work hard to build a Confucius Institute which will become a center for cultural exchange and Chinese studies.
On this occasion, Gou Haodong congratulated the two universities for signing a cooperation contract to build the Confucius Institute. He admitted that he was honored to be involved in the development and establishment of the Balingkang Confucius Institute and hoped that it could strengthen relations between the two parties in introducing Chinese culture.
