Singaraja– Ganesha University of Education (Undiksha) has again been trusted as the executor of the Retaker Teacher Professional Education Examination (PPG). This domicile-based online exam took place on 27 and 28 November 2021 with 1,140 participants. This number is more than in previous exams.
PPG Undiksha Coordinator, Drs. Gede Nurjaya, M.Pd., explained that the participants consisted of subjects in English education, elementary school teacher education, and science education who had not passed the previous knowledge test. It was also emphasized that these participants did not only take part in the PPG program at Undiksha but also at other tertiary institutions.
The Knowledge Exam is the last stage of the PPG program and is also a determinant of graduation. For this reason, to support the smooth running of the exam, participants were previously given the opportunity to take part in a simulation. In this exam, there were 76 supervisors who were deployed in four sessions and supported by the administrative committee. In general, the implementation of the two days of exams went smoothly. It was acknowledged that there were participants who experienced technical problems due to an unstable internet network, but the number was very small. “Just that. Everything else is smooth,” he explained.
Admittedly, there were a number of participants who were unable to take the exam as a result of technical problems. This will be conveyed to the ministry so that they will be given the opportunity to take the exam next time.
Meanwhile, the supervisor, Dr. Triwahyudianto, M.Sc., said that based on the shooting results, the overall process and results achieved in the implementation of the exam had gone well, orderly, smoothly, and in accordance with procedures. For a better future, he said from experience in the field, based on discussions with supervisors and the committee, his party would submit recommendations to a special center regarding the use of masks by supervisors. According to regulations, masks are indeed a standard health protocol for preventing the spread of Covid-19. However, in certain moments, such as giving directions or instructions, the use of a mask causes the supervisor’s voice to not be heard clearly by the participants.
“In UP, sometimes you have to take off your mask for a good reason, namely to make your voice clear when giving directions or instructions to participants. We convey this to the central committee. There are times when supervisors may remove their masks to achieve their goals,” he explained.
He also did not deny that there were a number of participants who experienced internet network limitations, which could hinder the smooth running of the exam. This is expected to receive attention, especially by the central government. “Even though UP will be carried out offline, in the era of technology, an internet network is needed,” he added.
On the other hand, the supervisor, Dr. Hj. Warih Handayaningrum, M.Pd., appreciated the performance and alertness of the supervisors and committee. Likewise with the togetherness and hospitality given. He hopes that the implementation of UP at Undiksha in the future will be even better. (hms)
