Singaraja- Ganesha University of Education (Undiksha) held its 67th graduation, Friday (25/3/2022). Graduation this time is very special. This was not only because, for the first time, but it also took place fully offline during the Covid-19 pandemic. But also for the first time followed by a Bachelor of Medicine. Not only that, the graduation which took place at the campus Auditorium was also filled with scientific orations by the Director General of Vocational Education, Ministry of Education, Culture, Research and Technology, Wikan Sakarinto, S.T., M.Sc., Ph.D.
This year’s graduation was attended by 702 graduates from Diploma III, Bachelor, Masters, and Doctoral levels. In particular for medical graduates as many as 44 people. This scholar is the first batch of the Undiksha Faculty of Medicine which was established on August 18, 2018. At that time, the decree was delivered directly by the Minister of Research, Technology, and Higher Education, Mohamad Nasir. This history also brought Undiksha, which has the status of an Education Personnel Education Institution, to be the first to have a Faculty of Medicine.
Currently, these Bachelor of Medicine who were “born” from Undiksha have attended clinical education (COAS) at the Regional General Hospital (RSUD) Buleleng. Putu Enrico Pramana Okaniawan, S.Ked., one of the graduates said he was proud to be able to attend this graduation. Moreover, it is carried out in full offline. “We thank Undiksha for preparing for this graduation,” he said.
From this graduation, he had high hopes. For the graduates, I hope they can achieve a bright future. Meanwhile, in the presence of the Director General of Vocational Education, Wikan Sakarinto also gave a scientific oration on “Directions and Strategies for the Development of Vocational Education in Indonesia”.
On that occasion, he also invited graduates to continue developing their soft skills, character, attitude, and leadership as well as continue learning to become lifelong learners and become future leaders. “The world is constantly changing, and competitive thinking and digital literacy must continue to be improved. Not only technically, but how do we operate our social media, our digital technology properly, not for crime, not for spreading hoaxes,” he said.
The 47-year-old Director General also appreciates Undiksha’s various achievements in 2021, both in the Main Performance Indicators of the PTN Public Service Agency which is ranked 7th, and in Simkatmawa which is ranked 13th nationally. In addition, the implementation of the Freedom to Learn Campus Merdeka policy is also considered to have run optimally. “We feel that Undiksha has been very optimal in implementing our policies, Merdeka Learning Campus Merdeka and from IKU is also high. Then student achievement is also good, meaning that students are not only good at academics, but also in other fields, entrepreneurship, sports, and art,” he said.
At this graduation, he also showed his talent for playing music and singing. Together with Undiksha lecturer, Kadek Happy Kardiawan and the best graduate from the doctoral program, Kadek Wirahyuni presented three songs that are full of meaning. No doubt, her performance was warmly welcomed by the graduates and other invitees.
Chancellor of Undiksha, Prof. Dr. I Nyoman Jampel, M.Pd., said Undiksha always tries to produce graduates who are superior, competent, and with character. During their studies, Undiksha strives to equip students with knowledge, skills, technology, and life values. Through that, graduates are expected to be able to get decent jobs and be able to create jobs, continue to be motivated to continue their studies and be useful and useful for families and society.
In addition, he also invited graduates to continue to improve their competence in this disruptive technology as well as in the 21st century. “There are three things that we must do, namely mastering technology, mastering data, and mastering language, and this humanistic literacy is the main thing. In addition, in the 21st century, we call the main skills at least 4 C, Critical thinking, Creative, collaboration, and communication, plus compassion and computational also need to have, “he said.
