Singaraja- The achievements made by students of the Ganesha University of Education (Undiksha) in the midst of the Covid-19 pandemic are not only from scientific work competitions or the like but also from sports. Made Diah Karisma Utami from the Physical Education, Health, and Recreation Study Program won a bronze medal in the IPB Archery Open Online 2021 competition.
This event takes place from 27 June to 18 July 2021 and is divided into 3 divisions, namely compound, recurve, and standards. The participants were from various universities and several archery clubs and UKM in universities throughout Indonesia. Especially for Diah, her nickname appeared in the recurve division with around ten participants. Her preparation yielded positive results by winning third place. “This is the women’s general recurve individual champion,” she said, Thursday (14/7/2021).
Achieving this achievement requires intensive preparation and training beforehand, d. “The impression that I feel getting this achievement is definitely very happy and feel proud,” she said. Archery is apparently not a new thing for Diah. She has been doing it since she was in elementary school (SD), in grade VI to be precise, starting from her father’s invitation to become an archery trainer. “At first I felt normal. But over time I wanted to pursue this sport and finally until now, “she said.
Entering this sport not only because she wants to follow in her father’s footsteps, including her uncle who was also an athlete. More than that, because of this sport, she can practice patience and calm. “Archery requires feelings and calm within us. Which is where you have to fight your emotional self, “she added.
Deputy Chancellor for Student Affairs, Alumni, and Public Relations of Undiksha, Prof. Dr. I Wayan Suastra, M.Pd., appreciated this achievement. He hopes that in the future more and more achievements will be made by students to increase competitiveness, both individually and at the university. He also invited all students not to stop working and doing positive things even in the atmosphere of the Covid-19 pandemic. (hms)
