DEVELOPMENT Increasingly sophisticated technology requires the younger generation to be more creative. Not to mention that the Indonesian government is currently encouraging the younger generation to want to be entrepreneurs, especially among students.
Ganesha University of Education strongly supports this government program. Education managed by the Student Career and Entrepreneurship Center on entrepreneurship continues to be encouraged for students through seminars by presenting competent speakers. One of the Undiksha students who has dared to become a young entrepreneur is Ni Putu Narithya Julieta. This Medical Study Program student has a fashion business, called Jegeg Kebaya.
Her love for fashion from an early age and often participated in modeling competitions and also became the Runner Up I of Jegeg Buleleng in 2016 was the beginning of his interest in pursuing this business. “So from junior high school, you often supported me to take part in modeling competitions, and continued to high school, I became the 1st Runner Up in Jegeg Buleleng in 2016. I often took part in fashion and cultural activities. That made me interested in pursuing this field more deeply,” she said.
Another reason is that when she was about to graduate from high school, this Singaraja native girl had difficulty finding a place that suited her taste. “So I started this business when I was about to graduate from high school when I graduated using a modified kebaya. In Singaraja, I haven’t found a place that fits my taste. If you want to rent to Denpasar, the price is also expensive. So I might as well start a kebaya rental business at prices that are still friendly,” continued the student who was born in 2000.
Even though Thya, as he is affectionately called, is still in semester 6, this business is still being pursued seriously. This business is also at the same time a distraction, avoiding boredom and boredom of learning. From this effort, he can also learn to manage time. With promotions through social media, this self-taught business has been able to bring in rupiah coffers, especially when graduation season arrives. This is an encouragement to continue to pursue and continue to innovate. “The benefits are uncertain. I think that all businesses do not have an absolute nominal profit. Moreover, my business is seasonal,” said the student whose birthday is July 20.
Thya realizes that in doing business there will certainly be difficulties to face. The biggest difficulty is finding a partner who is right at heart and has the same vision, mission, and views to serve customers wholeheartedly. Apart from that, the number of similar businesses is a challenge in itself to be able to provide branding and consumer trust with new innovations. “Because there are many who influence someone to come to us. I am constantly looking for ideas and innovating,” she continued.
Thya’s perseverance in developing his business will certainly not stop here. The desire to develop his business is still quite large. “Of course, it will be widened and developed. Hopefully, in the future there will be an opportunity and given a way to get there, “she said. Through this effort, said the eldest son, it is a sign that it is no longer the time for the younger generation to just look for work, but it would be better if they were able to create jobs. “Job vacancies are now very limited, especially during a pandemic. So it’s better for us to do business. Don’t be afraid to try because everything has its own risks,” she added. (hms)
