Singaraja– New students at Ganesha University of Education who are recipients of the Indonesia Smart College Card (KIP-K) program were given socialization, Monday (18/10/2021). The activity fronted by the Bidikmisi Communication Forum takes place online and offline. What was conveyed was not only information about various provisions related to KIP-K, but at the same time emphasized that receiving students must remember their responsibilities and be able to become innovative and accomplished generations. This was conveyed directly by the Deputy Chancellor for Student Affairs, Alumni and Public Relations of Undiksha, Prof. Dr. I Wayan Suastra, M.Pd., giving a speech.
He explained that this national program is very beneficial for students and their families because it can ease the economic burden. The selection process to get it is very strict. At Undiksha, for 2021, it was recorded that there were 715 people who had passed as recipients. “Students get paid every month. This is extraordinary, students are given assistance that other people may not get because there are so many applicants,” he said.
Therefore, he continued, the process of receiving student lectures will continue to be monitored. “Must have responsibility for student activities. If I see it, I observe it, I note that I have never attended an activity without notification several times, up to three times, I will give a note that next year we will not continue it,” he said firmly.
As scholarship recipients which are quite large each semester, students must have commitment and responsibility, especially in completing studies on time. Besides that, you can hone your own competence through organizations or activities held by student organizations, both at the university, faculty, department, and student activity unit levels. “In student affairs, there are a lot of activities, from organizational activities there are BEM, there are MPM, HMJ, Faculty BEM, and activity units which total nearly 30 units. Starting from sports, arts, and achievements, PKIM for example,” continued Suastra.
As a new generation of KIP-K recipients, the most important thing for students to do is to innovate in various fields which can then be developed into Student Creativity Programs (PKM) and other programs that provide benefits, both to the university and the community. Through this, it is also desirable to have achievements. “You can’t just gather PKM. We have prepared a team to guide. Later we will invite them again to take part in socialization about PKM so that they produce proposals that can be contested at the national level,” he said.
The Deputy Chancellor, who had served as Director of the Undiksha Postgraduate Program, also said that the Chancellor is targeting 450 of the best PKM proposals to be sent to the national level in 2022. This must be welcomed by students.
“Who knows, the proposals sent from KIP-K recipients could reach PIMNAS (National Scientific Week). That will have an impact/prize. Later younger siblings can convert these achievements into courses, especially if they succeed in becoming PIMNAS champions, they may not have to take the final assignment because of their achievements,” he said.
Students can also take part in various prestigious competitions, such as the Holistic Village Empowerment and Development Program (PHP2D) or the Village Empowerment Development Program (P3D), and the inovillage program. The competition also received an injection of funds in the context of implementing activities. “So Undiksha students must be creative, must continue to actively develop innovations,” he asked.
In closing, Suastra advised that these students could be of use to the community and would later be able to change the standard of living for their families for the better. “Therefore, I hope younger siblings will be embarrassed, never give up, if people study for three hours we study for six hours like I did,” he ordered.
Meanwhile, with regard to socialization, it was filled in by the Head of Undiksha’s Academic, Student Affairs, Planning and Cooperation Bureau, Drs. I Made Yasa, M.Pd. He provides material related to the provisions that must be followed by the recipients. In addition, there was also socialization regarding the completeness of banking administration by BRI Bank Singaraja Branch. (hms)
