Singaraja– Graduate University of Education Ganesha (Undiksha) to hostAsian Education Symposium (AES) 5th. This event took place virtually on Tuesday (13/10/2020), opened by Undiksha Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs and Cooperation, Dr. Gede Rasben Dantes, S.T., M.T.I., accompanied by the Undiksha Postgraduate Director, Prof. Dr. I Gusti Putu Suharta, M.Sc., Deputy Director I Postgraduate Undiksha, Prof. Dr. Ida Bagus Putrayasa, M.Pd., and Undiksha Postgraduate Deputy Director II, Dr. I Gusti Ngurah Pujawan, M.Kes.
The head of the committee, Putu Indah Rahmawati, Ph.D., said that this event was a consortium between the Indonesian University of Education (UPI) and Ganesha University of Education, Manado State University, Sunan Gunung Djati State Islamic University Bandung, Mataram University, Pakuan University, Surabaya State University, Semarang State University, Bengkulu University, Kanjuruhan University Malang, Sulthan Thaha Syaifuddin State Islamic University Jambi and Raden Fatah State Islamic University Palembang.
Delivered further, this event carries the theme “Enhancing the Quality of Transdisciplinary Education of Sustainable Development Goals”. There were three speakers presented, namely Prof. Dr. Lyn Parker from Australia who presented the material “Pedagogies for education about the SDG on the environment”, Dr. Phil. Dessy Seri Wahyuni, M.Eng., from Indonesia with material on the effect of industrial integration on students’ work abilities, and Prof. Hiroyuki Miyake from Japan presented material “Education for sustainable development in Japan”. This conference is expected to be a forum for researchers, educators, and writers to build networks in the field of research and publications. “We hope that through this event, academics and professionals from various fields of education with cross-disciplinary interests will gain knowledge, both about research and the evolution of pedagogy,” explained Rahmawati. It is also hoped that the material presented by the speakers can be a reflection on how the education sector responds to challenges and technological trends.
The Deputy Chancellor, Rasben Dantes appreciated the holding of this conference, moreover, Undiksha was entrusted with being the co-host. “We really appreciate this event, because in the Covid-19 pandemic situation, it can still run,” he said. He said this conference was a medium for adopting many things to solve various problems, especially in the field of education with various fields of knowledge. “Hopefully this can broaden knowledge and perspectives on education. Our task is to prepare realistic solutions that contribute to human resource growth,” he concluded.
The AES series is also filled with scientific writing training, Wednesday (14/10/2020). Three speakers were presented, namely Vina Andriany, Ph.D., from the Indonesian University of Education (UPI) with the material “General Rules for scientific writing”, Prof. Dr. Ade Gafar Abdullah, M.Sc., from UPI who presented the material “Tips for publication”, and Prof. Dr. Ni Nyoman Padmadewi, M.A., from Undiksha with the material “Error to avoid in scientific writing”. In addition, there was also a meeting of members of the AES consortium. (hms)
