Singaraja- Ganesha University of Education (Undiksha) is holding Training to Improve Basic Instructional Techniques Skills (PEKERTI) phase I in 2022. This online activity was opened by the Chancellor of Undiksha, Prof. Dr. I Nyoman Jampel, M.Pd. It is hoped that through this activity, the participants will be able to become more professional lecturers.
The activity which lasted for one week was attended by a number of lecturers from five tertiary institutions, namely the STIKOM Bali Institute of Technology and Business, Agamua Wamena Papua College of Information Management & Computer Engineering, Bali Institute of Design and Business, Denpasar Ministry of Health Polytechnic, Tourism Institute and International Business.
The Chancellor of Jampel expressed his appreciation for the tertiary institution for giving trust to Undiksha to share experience and knowledge related to improving basic intrapersonal and interpersonal skills with lecturers. “We hope that through this activity, we can make lecturers more competent and professional, especially in educating students,” he said.
Delivered further, the existence of professional lecturers, and tertiary institutions are expected to produce graduates who are competitive, able to get good jobs, and able to create jobs. This is included as one of the Main Performance Indicators (IKU) of Higher Education. “Of course to achieve this, it starts with lecturers who really have good competence, interpersonal skills, and also professionalism. After that, he can pass it on to his students, “he said.
This collegiate collaboration is desired not only in the implementation of PEKERTI. Entering the 21st century learning, collaboration needs to continue to be developed, one of which is in the implementation of Free Learning on Free Campus which is a policy of the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research and Technology (Kemendikbudristek).
Meanwhile, the Chancellor of ITB Stikom Bali, Dr. Dadang Hermawan who represented other tertiary institutions gave a speech expressing his gratitude to the Chancellor of Undiksha and his staff who were willing to provide this training. He said this activity was not only to fulfill the formal requirements as a lecturer. More than that, it is also to improve competence which in turn is able to lead students to become better intellectual beings, become alumni who are useful to the country and nation.
He also hopes that through this activity the lecturers will be better prepared to face challenges in teaching. “The challenge is getting tougher because the variations in teaching nowadays can be in various modes. There is online, There is hybrid, There is offline, and so on,” he concluded. (hms)
