Singaraja- The Merdeka Belajar Kampus Merdeka Program (MBKM) is a part of the government’s efforts, through the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology (Kemendikbudristek), to transform higher education in Indonesia by providing students with greater freedom to choose their educational paths. This was conveyed by the Vice Rector for Academic and Cooperation Affairs, Ganesha University of Education (Undiksha), Prof. Dr. Gede Rasben Dantes, S.T., M.T.I., during a presentation at the Introduction to Campus Life event for Undiksha New Students in 2024, on Thursday, August 15, 2024.
Through the MBKM policies, students are given the opportunity to choose courses from various disciplines, participate in internships from relevant industries, and also engage in research projects and extracurricular activities that support their competency development.
Vice Rector Prof. Rasben emphasized the importance of implementing the MBKM policy in the context of the 4.0 Revolution, as students not only gain knowledge from books in the classroom but also directly experience the practical application of their education in the field. This adaptation to the evolving times is crucial for preparing a superior young generation that is ready to compete on the global stage.
He also introduced several programs that Undiksha offers to provide students with opportunities to enhance their competencies. One such program is the fast track program that has been established between Undiksha and Ming Chi University of Technology (MCUT) Taiwan.
Specifically, he highlighted the technology of the 4.0 Revolution era, such as the Internet of Change, Artificial Intelligence, and others, which are highly beneficial for conducting research and supporting learning processes. He urged new students to utilize these resources effectively, especially in their studies.
As an educational institution, Undiksha has also developed various digital platforms and technology-based learning tools that make it easier for students to access course materials, collaborate on projects, and interact with lecturers and peers. This allows students to be more flexible in aligning their education with their needs and personal interests.
With this transformation, Undiksha students are expected to be better prepared to face the challenges of an increasingly competitive and dynamic workplace. This program is also expected to produce graduates who are not only academically intelligent but also possess practical skills and innovative abilities that can be applied in various professional fields.
