Singaraja- Ganesha University of Education (Undiksha) is preparing to select potential rector candidates for the 2023-2027 period. This was done following the imminent end of the term of office of the Chancellor of Undiksha for the 2019-2023 period, Prof. Dr. I Nyoman Jampel, M.Pd.
The stages for selecting the Chancellor (Pilrek) began to be socialized to the Undiksha academic community, Monday (12/9/2022). On this occasion, the Chairperson of the Undiksha Chancellor Selection Organizing Committee, Prof. Dr. Ida Bagus Putu Arnyana, M.Sc., said that the tenure of Undiksha Chancellor, I Nyoman Jampel, M.Pd., in his second term ended on April 13, 2023. In line with that, the Pilrek stages began to be implemented. The committee opens registration for potential chancellor candidates from September 26 to October 14, 2022. This opportunity is not only open to internal Undiksha but also from other universities with the status of a Public Service Agency (BLU) and Legal Entity (BH) as well as the government.
The minimum requirements that must be met by applicants, continued Arnyana, are that they must be an associate professors and their age does not exceed 60 years. At this stage of the selection, a minimum of 4 potential chancellor candidates are sought. The next stage is inventory and administrative selection which is scheduled for 17 to 21 October 2022, announcement of the results of selecting prospective candidates on 8 November 2022. Furthermore, the stage of conveying the vision, mission, and work program on 15 December 2022 is also a schedule for assessing and determining the chancellor candidate. In this stage, 3 candidates for chancellor will be produced to be elected by the senate and ministers or those assigned in January 2023. “So the minister has 35 percent of the total vote. From that the 3 candidates will be ranked. This is what will be conveyed again to the Minister by the Senate together with the Chancellor to determine who will become the Chancellor and will be appointed by the Minister later,” he explained.
Confirmed after the socialization, the Head of the Undiksha Senate, Prof. Dr. I Nyoman Sudiana, M.Pd., hopes that the election of the chancellor will be successful and that the implementation will be in accordance with the guidelines set by the senate regulations. Apart from that, the elected chancellor will really have superior quality and will be able to make Undiksha even better. “So that there will be a continuous improvement (Undiksha, red),” he hoped.
Another hope is that this succession can run harmoniously, in line with what Undiksha always echoes. This was also emphasized by the Chancellor of Undiksha, Prof. I Nyoman Jampel, M.Pd., who also attended the socialization. (hms)
