Singaraja- Ganesha University of Education (Undiksha) has a Department of Law and Citizenship, under the auspices of the Faculty of Law and Social Sciences. This department is committed to producing reliable and competitive graduates through a series of strategies. This was conveyed by the Head of the Department, Dr. Nengah Suastika, S.Pd., M.Pd., during an interactive dialogue on Radio Guntur, Singaraja, Tuesday (30/4/2019).
It was explained that the Legal Studies Study Program specifically only existed in 2014 and had graduated two classes of students. Most have been absorbed in the world of work. Other encouraging things also emerged from a number of students. Some have succeeded in making achievements, both at provincial and national levels, eliminating representatives from a number of prestigious universities. Apart from that, there are also students who represent the institution in international-level events. “Even though we are still young, we are committed to producing competitive graduates. “This is a Bachelor of Law degree,” he explained.
Meanwhile, the Citizenship Studies Program has been around for quite a long time. Most of the graduates work as educators. In the midst of recruiting Civil Servant Candidates (CPNS), this department also quite often gets formation quotas. “Every time there is recruitment, there are those who pass. “The opportunity is still quite big to become an educator,” he said.
Department Secretary, Dr. Dewa Gede Sudika Mangku, S.H., LL.M., said that to produce competitive graduates, various efforts were made. Especially for the Legal Studies Study Program, it is mandatory to take part in the PKL program which collaborates with legal institutions, such as the Court, Prosecutor’s Office, notary’s office, and so on. Apart from that, it also provides legal understanding through seminars or public lectures by presenting well-known speakers. “We invited Hotman Paris’s lawyer. “This is one strategy to increase student understanding,” he said.
As part of developing the quality of human resources, the educational costs offered by this department are quite affordable. Keep looking at the conditions and situation of society. Various scholarships are also offered, such as Bidikmisi, PPA, Banking, Regency Government, and Chancellor. “With this scholarship, students whose economic conditions are less supportive can still continue their education,” added Student Affairs Advisor, Ni Putu Rai Yuliartini, S.H., M.H.
For the 2019/2020 academic year, Law students are targeted for four classes and Citizenship for one class. Admission is open through SNMPTN, SBMPTN, and the Independent Route via Computer Based Test (CBT). “The number of students per class is around 30 to 35 people. The remaining admission pathways remain independent. “Registration is open June 17 to July 19,” she concluded. (hms)
