Singaraja- Ganesha University of Education (Undiksha) invites students to be anti-radicalism. This was emphasized through the socialization that took place, on Thursday (2/11/2023).
This socialization was held by the Institute for Quality Assurance and Learning Development (LPMPP), presented by Kaur bin Ops Intelkam, Buleleng Police, IPDA. Ketut Edi Maryusa was the resource person and was attended by students who were representatives of the Student Organization (Ormawa). Also present were the Deputy Deans III in the Undiksha environment.
This socialization was opened by the Deputy Chancellor for Student Affairs, Public Relations and Alumni Undiksha, Prof. Dr. I Ketut Sudiana, M. Kes. He said that radicalism is one of the challenges facing Indonesia. This understanding needs to be anticipated to maintain the integrity of the Unitary State of the Republic of Indonesia (NKRI). “Let’s start from this room, that we are now allowed to protect the Republic of Indonesia at a fixed price,” he said.
Preventing radicalism and even terrorism, the vice chancellor, who previously served as Chair of the Undiksha Institute for Research and Community Service (LPPM), believes that it is necessary to start by strengthening a sense of tolerance amidst Indonesia’s diversity and realizing that we were born in a diverse country, Indonesia must be willing to live side by side. “If we can do this, then we can prevent radicalism and terrorism,” he said.
The increasingly massive development of information technology can be a way for radicalism to enter very private spaces. Therefore, students and the public need to be smarter in using or accessing information technology.
Through this outreach, Prof. Sudiana also invited the participants to become ambassadors for the anti-radicalism movement and be able to disseminate various information about radicalism to a wider environment. “In the anti-radicalism movement, we can all take part,” he added.
Chair of the Socialization Committee, Prof. Dr. Parmiti urged, M.S said that this socialization was carried out because the threats of radicalism were still widespread and global. So Undiksha as an educational institution has a responsibility to socialize the anti-radicalism movement.
Students as pioneers of this nation are expected to be able to spread the word to the wider community to participate in making the government’s program a success to grow high levels of tolerance, especially in Undiksha. (hms)
