Singaraja- Universitas Pendidikan Ganesha (Undiksha) inaugurated thousands of professional teachers who have graduated from the In-Position of Teacher Profession Education or Pendidikan Profesi Guru (PPG) in 2022. The inauguration was held in a hybrid manner and was carried out directly by the Rector of Undiksha, Prof. Dr. I Nyoman Jampel, M.Pd., Saturday (1/4/2023). The important thing that was emphasized is that teachers must remember lifelong learning.
The inauguration was held symbolically at Sunari Hotel, Lovina, Buleleng Regency, which representatives of each class attended. There were 2,288 professional teachers inaugurated consisting of Teacher Primary school teacher education, Civic Education, Balinese Language, TKI, early childhood teacher education, Physical and Health Education, Science, Mathematics, Physics, Guidance and Counseling, Indonesian Language, and English. The teacher comes from various regions in Indonesia. This diversity by Undiksha is referred to as the rainbow of the archipelago.
In addition to the inauguration, these teachers also took the professional teacher pledge. Undiksha Rector, Prof. Dr. I Nyoman Jampel, M.Pd., said that the PPG program is one of the government’s efforts to produce professional teachers who can create superior human resources to improve Indonesia. This is very important for teachers to pay attention to.
Despite being declared professional teachers, the teachers were asked to keep abreast of developments in science and technology or lifelong learning. “We never know what we get now may not be useful in the future, so we must continue to learn again according to what is happening at that time. We must continue to remember long-life education, which is lifelong learning. So it does not mean that after becoming professional teachers they do not learn anymore, instead they must continue to learn because there is a slogan that says professional teachers must be better, “he said.
Undiksha PPG Coordinator, Drs. I Gede Nurjaya, M.Pd., explained that the inaugurated teachers were PPG In Position students in 2022 who had completed all their studies until graduation. He also explained that the number of PPG Daljab students in 2022 was 2,341. Of that, those who successfully graduated were 2,288 or 97.74 percent. “Indeed Undiksha from year to year has never been below 90 percent,” he said.
Although the achievements have been positive, the implementation of PPG Undiksha in the future is still expected to be better, both in terms of commitment and dedication of the committee, lecturers, tutors, and leaders. “In the future we hope that at least we can maintain this. Later we will evaluate again what we can do in accordance with the existing conditions in 2023 and in 2022 we will make it a foothold to develop more innovative and creative programs so that our graduation can continue to increase, “he said.
The inauguration and pledge were also attended by Undiksha’s Vice Rector for Academic Affairs and Cooperation, Prof. Dr. Gede Rasben Dantes, S.T., M.T.I., Undiksha’s Vice Rector for Student Affairs, Public Relations, and Alumni, Prof. Dr. I Wayan Suastra, M.Pd., and related Study Program Coordinators.
