Singaraja- Ganesha University of Education (Undiksha) inaugurated thousands of professional teachers who have graduated in In-service Teacher Professional Education (PPG) in 2022. The inauguration was carried out in a hybrid manner and was carried out directly by the Chancellor of Undiksha, Prof. Dr. I Nyoman Jampel, M.Pd., Saturday (1/4/2023). The important thing to emphasize, these teachers must remember lifelong learning.
This inauguration was carried out symbolically at the Sunari Hotel, Lovina, Buleleng Regency which was attended by representatives of each class. 2,288 professional teachers were appointed consisting including PGSD, PPKN, Balinese Language, TKI, PGPAUD, PJOK, Science, Mathematics, Physics, Guidance, Counseling, Indonesian, and English. The teachers come from various regions in Indonesia. This diversity by Undiksha is called the rainbow of the archipelago.
In addition to the inauguration, these teachers also took the pledge of professional teachers at the same time. Chancellor of Undiksha, Prof. Dr. I Nyoman Jampel, M.Pd., said that the PPG program is one of the government’s efforts to produce professional teachers so that they can produce superior human resources (HR) in order to make Indonesia better. This is very important for teachers to pay attention to.
Even though they are declared to have become professional teachers, these teachers are asked to keep abreast of developments in science and technology or lifelong learning. “We never know what we get now, it might not be useful in the future, so we have to keep learning according to what happened at that time. Must continue to remember long-life education, namely lifelong learning. So it doesn’t mean that after becoming a professional teacher they don’t study anymore, instead they have to keep learning because there is a slogan that says professional teachers must be better,” he emphasized.
PPG Undiksha Coordinator, Drs. I Gede Nurjaya, M.Pd explained that the teachers who were appointed were PPG In-service students in 2022 who had completed all their studies up to graduation. It was also explained that the number of PPG students in 2022 was 3,446 people. From that, there were 2,341 people who had taken the exam and 2,288 people who passed or 97.74% passed. “Indeed, Undiksha has never been below 90 percent from year to year,” he said.
Even though the achievements have been positive, the implementation of PPG Undiksha in the future is still expected to be even better, both in terms of the commitment and dedication of the committee, lecturers, tutors, and leaders. “In the future, we hope that at least we can maintain this. Later we will evaluate again what we can do in accordance with the existing conditions in 2023 and we will use 2022 as a basis for developing more innovative and creative programs so that our graduates can continue to increase,” he said.
The inauguration and pledge were also attended by the Deputy Chancellor for Academic Affairs and Cooperation of Undiksha, Prof. Dr. Gede Rasben Dantes, S.T., M.T.I., Deputy Chancellor for Student Affairs, Public Relations, and Undiksha Alumni, Prof. Dr. I Wayan Suastra, M.Pd., Head of AKPK Undiksha Bureau, Drs.
