Singaraja-Universitas Pendidikan Ganesha (Undiksha) was trusted to host the meeting of the State University Library Cooperation Forum or Forum Kerjasama Perpustakaan Perguruan Tinggi Negeri (FKP2TN), Wednesday (28/9/2022). This meeting was also filled with national work meetings and national seminars. This moment is also to build collaboration in improving the quality of library management and development.
The working meeting, which took place at Sunari Hotel, Lovina, Buleleng Regency, discussed the work program in library development and the election of administrators. The national seminar presented three speakers, Undiksha’s Vice Rector for Academic Affairs and Cooperation, Dr. Gede Rasben Dantes, S.T. M.T.I., Head of ITS Library, Edy Suprayitno, S.S. M.Hum., and from Universitas Gadjah Mada, Ida Fadjar Priyanto, Ph.D.
The event was opened by the Head of the Buleleng Regency Library and Archives Office, Made Era Oktarini, S.TP., M.M. She hoped that innovative ideas could be developed in library management through this meeting, one of which was technology-based. According to her, library management is no longer enough with conventional methods in the current era. “Digital-based library management is very necessary in order to improve service access,” he said.
The same thing was also conveyed by Undiksha Vice Rector, Rasben Dantes, who was confirmed after giving the material. According to him, the State University Cooperation Forum is one of the units that has a strategic role in library development efforts in the future. Therefore, it is expected to strengthen the library management of each university. “Libraries in universities are very vital. We can provide knowledge, provide knowledge and skills to the academic community. In the future, we hope that the library of each university will become an icon and its facilities will continue to increase, especially at Undiksha.
He also said the library’s function is no longer just a place to store books. But it has transformed with increasingly complex functions, such as a place to discuss and access digital resources, journals, e-books, and so on. To maximize these services, there needs to be a collaboration between universities and other related parties. One of the things expected by Rasben Dantes is that the State Higher Education Cooperation forum can form a consortium.
The Committee head, Dr. Made Hery Wihardika Griadhi, S.H, M.Si., also mentioned that the implementation of this meeting also received support from private parties engaged in printing and e-resources. Through this activity, it is hoped that collaboration can also be built to improve library services, including the formation of a consortium to enrich e-resources.
In addition to the National Coordination Meeting and seminar, Thursday (29/9/2022), the management of the State Higher Education Cooperation Forum and members also visited Undiksha Library to learn about management and so on. (hms)
