Sunday (22/10), Ganesha University of Education got an honor to be a host of International Event called Asia Pacific Writers & Translator (APWT). This event was conducted in Languages and Arts Faculty of Ganesha University of Education attended by 150 participants from some countries in Asia Pacific.
APWT was conducted in an attempt of gathering the writers, humanists, and artists from all over the world, especially Asia Pacific. “The implementation of APWT as an international-based event is hosted in Buleleng regency, Bali. It can be a promotional event for Indonesian tourism especially Bali”, said the Deputy Secretary of International Tourism Development, Dra. Ni Wayan Giri Adnyani, M.Sc.
Vice Rector 4 of Ganesha University of Education, Drs. Wayan Suarnajaya., M.A., Ph.D stated similar things that APWT was an important moment that inspired and gave insight for the writers and translators in Indonesia, especially in Ganesha University of Education.
Asia Pacific Writers and Translators (APWT) was conducted in two days, from October 22nd to 24th 2017. It was the umpteenth event where the activity has been conducted every year in different countries such as Australia, Philippine, Thailand, India, Singapore, and China.
This event which has been held for the first time in Bali offered a discussion of literature and translation as the areas of creative writing, encouraged the passion of creative writers to publish their literatures and translations in international scale, and supported creative industrial economy development as well.
According to Dean of Languages and Arts Faculty of Ganesha University of Ecudation, Prof. Dr. Putu Kerti Nitiasih, M.A, the college students learnt to be writers; even, if travelers in Bali could write well and publish their writings, then the promotion of Indonesia tourism could be supported.
This event also included some agendas outside the campus, such as in Museum Buleleng and Gedong Kertya, a workshop at Wihara Banjar Village, and many more. Over all, it gave a great contribution to promote cultural heritage and tourism in North Bali. (Panji, Nata, Mutiara)
