Singaraja- Ganesha University of Education (Undiksha) is holding a selection of outstanding students (Pilmapres) in 2022. The selection is made to get the best students who will then represent Undiksha in regional-level competitions and are also expected to appear at the national level.
Selection has entered stage II, Tuesday (19/4/2022). This stage is followed by participants who have entered the top three, both for the D-III and S-1 programs. Chief Executive of Undiksha Pilmapres, Dr. I Ketut Sudiana, M.Kes., explained that this selection used GPA parameters, achievements in student activities or superior achievements, and English language competency which was assessed through interviews. These parameters are slightly different from the stage I selection which only consists of GPA and superior achievements, namely student involvement in student activities or organizations as well as achievements achieved through competition activities. “Selection phase I is to produce the top three,” he explained.
Delivered further, the second phase of the selection is to find the best students from the S-1 and D-III programs to further represent Undiksha at the regional level before the national level selection. “To those who are the best, they will be given stabilization later, consisting of two, namely propriety, the contents of which are integrity and anti-radicalism as well as aspects of its skill,” he explained.
The Pilmapres were attended by 14 people, consisting of 8 people from the S-1 program and 6 people from the D-III program. The student is the result of selection at the faculty level. Sudiana stated that the enthusiasm of Undiksha students to take part in this event was very good. This is shown by the existence of independence to find information about the implementation of the selection and other related matters. “What I use to support this statement, apart from the information we convey, students also ask for information. This is an indicator that they are very enthusiastic about participating in Pilmapres activities. Also the Deputy Dean III, as well as the assistants involved in the committee also really helped with this activity,” he explained.
It is hoped that the Pilmapres event will get better and the students participating will be more competitive. Based on the previous year’s experience, Sudiana believes that in the future it needs to be supported by design, namely planned, designed starting from the level of study programs and majors. Students who have potential and achievements need to be given the opportunity to have superior achievements. “So those who have a good GPA, at the department or university level, are given the opportunity to hold positions in student organizations, both as chairmen and members. The others are encouraged for the Mapres candidates, if there is a national seminar, they can become speakers, moderators, and even take part in competitions,” he concluded. (hms)
