Singaraja- Lecturers in the Fine Arts Education Study Program at the Ganesha University of Education (Undiksha) have produced many works, ranging from fine arts, fine arts, and crafts to designs. The artistic work was exhibited at the Undiksha Fine Arts Gallery, Wednesday (11/27/2019). The exhibition, which was presented without a specific thematic choice, was opened by Vice Chancellor III Undiksha, Prof. Dr. I Wayan Suastra, M.Pd.
The Head of the Committee, I Made Susanta Dwitanaya S.Pd, M.Pd., explained that the lecturers in the Fine Arts Education Study Program have a scientific background in fine arts, fine arts, and crafts to design, and have had direct contact with the practice of creating fine arts in their respective fields – respectively. Some even today are still actively working on their main duties as teachers. “Considering this, the lecturers initiated and presented exhibition events with fellow teachers and chose presentations,” he explained.
The frame of this exhibition is an educational exhibition that fully presents the artistic and aesthetic ideas and achievements of the Undiksha Fine Arts Education Study Program lecturers so that it is hoped that multidisciplinary works of art will emerge that reflect the diversity of artistic practices. “Besides presenting works, this exhibition will also design a discussion program with the characteristics of a talk artist. In this momentum, the lecturers participating in the exhibition will present their ideas about their works to the public,” he said. This exhibition also prioritizes the educative spirit. Students get a model of how lecturers are accountable for ideas in their work to the public. “In short, the educative spirit is the idea that is carried out in this exhibition,” he said.
Improving student competence has always tried to be equipped with various knowledge and experiences that are conceptualized in the curriculum and applied in learning in classrooms and in campus studios. “This exhibition is also one way to improve student competency. Students will directly see how the artistic achievements, ideas, and the way they are presented in the works of the teachers,” he added.
Vice Chancellor, Prof. Suastra said that this exhibition was very important to introduce his works to the public. He also explicitly stated that he would support lecturers and art students to hold exhibitions at the national and international levels. “This work really needs to be introduced. From that, of course, we are very supportive if we take part in exhibitions outside the campus, “he said.
Furthermore, it is hoped that the fine arts and other fields can make achievements. No less important, the work of lecturers and students can obtain Intellectual Property Rights which are very important to support higher education clustering. “Art also needs to be balanced with entrepreneurial skills.
