Singaraja- Dozens of works of art were exhibited at the Paduraksa Gallery, Faculty of Languages and Arts, Ganesha University of Education (FBS-Undiksha), Monday (3/1/2022). The work is the result of a special study conducted by students of the Fine Arts Education Study Program (PSR). This exhibition was opened by the Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs and Cooperation, Dr. Gede Rasben Dantes, S.T., M.T.I accompanied by FBS leaders.
At the exhibition with curator Dr. Hardiman, M.Si, who is an FBS academic, displays various works of art, such as painting, sculpture, ceramic art, textile art, prasi art, graphic art, batik, and so on. Works are accommodated in a frame called “Artifacts”. These various works are the result of the creativity, taste, and initiative of the students and their mentors who are full of meaning, telling stories about nature and presenting various cultures, which at the same time illustrate the diversity of student cultures.
The works are displayed neatly on the walls and tables, having various motifs, shapes, and colors. These characteristics further add to the beautiful nuances of the exhibition space and become an attraction for visitors. Undiksha Deputy Chancellor, Gede Rasben Dantes was also very impressed with the work, which he said was very good and very extraordinary. He also gave his appreciation to the study programs, departments, and faculties that had provided this exhibition space. “I want the highest appreciation to the Dean at the Faculty of Languages and Arts and all his staff, and also the lecturers at the Undiksha Art Education Study Program by giving space to our students to be able to continue working and today they can display their works from the subjects they call special studies,” he said.
He hopes that this special study can be expanded further so that it can produce independent studies related to reviews of artists in Bali, seeing works of art as inspiration for the products they produce. “From the works of art that I saw earlier, it is very good if I look at it in terms of student innovation and I also mentioned earlier that everyone has an identity. So art products are very much influenced by the culture that surrounds them, then by the society or society that surrounds them, customs, and the nature that surrounds them,” said Rasben Dantes.
In addition to special study exhibitions, many Undiksha Fine Arts Education Study Program students also hold work exhibitions at the international level. His works can be an attraction, especially from art connoisseurs. Seeing that, Rasben Dantes assessed that this achievement could be maintained and improved. In addition, he encouraged study programs to increase collaboration with foreign universities in the framework of holding exhibitions and art development activities.
Coordinator of the Fine Arts Education Study Program, Dr. I Ketut Sudita, M.Sc., explained that this special study is an obligation for students to emphasize their identity in the field of art. The selection of special studies cannot be separated from the process and results of student education in lectures which are further supported by the approval of the lecturers. This special study exhibition is expected to be a medium of education for other students and the general public. Also through this, it is hoped that art galleries can become Undiksha’s focus points in art development. (hms)
