Singaraja- Ganesha University of Education (Undiksha) does not only offer scholarship programs for domestic students. In order to make the campus a learning center for the international community, this program is also given to students from abroad. This scholarship will begin to be disbursed in the odd semester of the 2022/2023 academic year.
As a start, the Undiksha Chancellor program has been given to four students from Timor Leste for the undergraduate program (S1) and one master program (S2). Specifically, orientation for undergraduate program students begins Wednesday (7/9/2022). This event was attended by the Deputy Chancellor for Academic Affairs and Cooperation of Undiksha, Dr. Gede Rasben Dantes, S.T., M.T.I. He who was accompanied by the Head of the Undiksha Cooperation and Public Relations Agency, I Made Windu Antara Kesiman, Ph.D., said that in the 2022/2023 academic year, this was the first time scholarships had been announced for international students. This scholarship is to support the realization of the program internationalization at home which the Chancellor announced in 2019. “I hope this is a very good initiation,” he said.
There are hundreds of people who are interested in this scholarship, continued Rasben Dantes. However, after administrative selection, academic selection, and interviews, only four people passed to be able to attend education at Undiksha for eight semesters.
The Chancellor’s Scholarship covers tuition fees as well as housing for undergraduate students and only tuition fees for master’s programs. “Hopefully this program can increase the number and quality of our international students,” he continued.
Delivered further, in the implementation of lectures, these foreign students will join international class initiation students. In addition, they also received services for Indonesian language courses facilitated by the Undiksha Language Service Unit and were given cultural understanding.
Apart from students from Timor Leste, Undiksha is also planning to accept students from China for the doctoral program. Rasben Dantes hopes that this can be realized. He also hopes that faculties and postgraduates can independently initiate international classes or can start by presenting courses in English and so on. (hms)
