Singaraja- Character strengthening for Pre-position Teacher Profession Education or Pendidikan Profesi Guru (PPG) students of Universitas Pendidikan Ganesha is carried out through various activities. One is the Marching Line Training to build a disciplined and collaborative attitude. This activity was held at the Undiksha Campus Sports Center in Jinengdalem, Saturday (11/3/2023).
Dozens of students with various fields of study or scientific clumps attended the activity. The enthusiasm and togetherness are very visible.
These participants received basic marching exercises and a few that demanded cohesiveness.
The activity facilitator, I Made Sarmita, explained that this activity fosters a sense of responsibility, discipline, and cooperation to form collaborative competence in Pre-position PPG students. “So that one day when they become teachers, characters related to responsibility, discipline, and collaboration are imprinted in each of them,” he explained.
Character strengthening activities for Pre-position PPG participants are a Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology program, but universities’ implementation is flexible. At Undiksha, this activity is consistently carried out once a week. The activities are not only limited to marching line training but also others based on the philosophy of Tri Hita Karana, which consists of Parahyangan, which is maintaining good relations with God; pawongan, which is maintaining good relations with others; and palemahan, which is maintaining good relations with the environment. Through these three things, harmony will be created.
Student, Ida Ayu Malinda admitted that she was very happy to participate in this activity because it could strengthen togetherness. For her, this activity is also a place to refresh after previously struggling with academic activities. “I am very happy to be able to participate in this activity,” she said.
The English Education student also expressed her impression of participating in the Pre-position PPG at Undiksha. She got many challenges that could make her more motivated.
Another student named Sadam also gives an impression. In the marching line training, he was trusted as a trainer. He said the participants’ enthusiasm for participating in the activity was quite high and had shown cohesiveness in practice.
The discipline of the participants is expected to not only be shown during this activity. But it can also continue when they become teachers. Thus, the essence of PPG in realizing professional teachers can be truly realized. (hms)
