Singaraja- Ganesha University of Education (Undiksha) continues to strive to improve quality. One of the steps taken is through cooperation with foreign parties. Like China. This matter has been discussed by the Chancellor, Prof. Dr. I Nyoman Jampel, M.Pd., with the Consulate General in Denpasar, on Friday (28/6/2019).
Chancellor Jampel said that China is not only known as a developed country, experiencing developments in various fields. However, the country known as the land of pandas also has a historical side to Indonesia, especially Bali. “China is not a new country. “But we have long had relations with Indonesia, especially Bali,” he explained. Therefore, cooperation in the field of cultural development, such as history and art, as offered is quite worthy of being established. At Undiksha itself, this has been supported by Human Resources (HR) from the History Education Study Program and Arts Study Program. “We welcome this collaboration. “We have human resources,” he said.
It was further stated that Undiksha, which has been accredited A, is planning the establishment of a Mandarin Language Study Program. It’s just that the number of lecturers who can teach courses is still lacking. “We hope that there will also be cooperation for the establishment of this study program. “For example, there are lecturers from China who teach here,” said the former Dean of the Undiksha Faculty of Education (FIP).
In 2019, Undiksha launched internationalization at home. Deputy Chancellor I, Dr. I Gede Rasben Dantes, S.T., M.TI., who also accompanied him, hoped that there would also be cooperation regarding student and lecturer exchanges. “The collaboration is that students there can study here by taking several courses. “We can also exchange lecturers,” he said. He added that Undiksha is ready to follow up on the collaboration by signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), including coming directly to China and exploring universities that are open to collaboration. “We from Undiksha are ready to come to China,” he added.
The Consul General of the People’s Republic of China in Denpasar, Gou Haodong, expressed his desire to collaborate with this university which has had a Faculty of Medicine for a long time. However, this is the first time we can meet to discuss further. His party offers cooperation in the form of cultural development, such as history and art, especially related to China because the potential is quite large in Bali.
Meanwhile, regarding Undiksha’s desire to establish a Mandarin Language Study Program, the party emphasized that it was ready to support it. He said that in China there are universities that have excellence in Mandarin language education and have collaborated with universities abroad. “We are ready to support this program. “We also discussed this with the Buleleng Regency Government to support tourism,” he added, stating that he was ready to wait for Undiksha’s presence in China. This was also welcomed positively by the Chancellor, Jampel. “We will immediately plan to go there,” he replied. (hms)
