Singaraja– Ganesha University of Education (Undiksha) received an audience from Representatives of the Bali Province National Population and Family Planning Agency (BKKBN), Thursday (27/1/2022). The audience that was received by the ranks of the Institute for Research and Community Service (LPPM) discussed collaboration in stunting prevention.
The presence of the Head of BKKBN Representative for Bali Province, dr. Ni Luh Gede Sukardiasih, M.For., MARS was accompanied by the sub-sector of family welfare and family development (KSPK) Made Billy Udiana Sudibia, SE, Advocacy and KIE Sub-Sector Putu Eka Aristyani, S.Kom., M.M, and Head of the Office of Control Population, Family Planning, Women’s Empowerment and Child Protection (PPKB-PPPA) Buleleng Regency Ni Made Dwi Priyanti Putri Koriawan, S.E
On that occasion, Sukardiasih explained that stunting prevention must start from the upstream, namely with teenagers, students, married couples, prospective brides, pregnant women, mothers giving birth, and toddlers 0-9 months. In its realization, support from other related parties is needed, one of which is a university. On that basis, his party wanted to collaborate with Undiksha. “His presence at Undiksha is to collaborate in forming quality human resources and it is hoped that in the future, Undiksha can become an example or role model for stunting prevention,” she explained.
Delivered further, in this collaboration, Undiksha is expected to create a program related to the first thousand days of life so that together we can prevent and reduce stunting rates in Bali Province in general and Buleleng Regency in particular. “We want the implementation of the program in the first thousand days of life because it is there that determines whether a toddler will be stunted or not because we start from incubation, from forming him to become a pregnant woman until he gives birth and the child is 2 years old, and that is what we have to focus on,” she said.
Head of LPPM Undiksha, Prof. Dr. I Gede Astra Wesnawa, M.Sc., expressed his appreciation for the visit of the BKKBN Representative. He conveyed that the involvement of universities is very important in order to reduce the number of stunting cases through educational steps. Moreover, according to him, as an institution engaged in research and community service, LPPM Undiksha can support it through various activities. “So it can be through thematic KKN, with foster families that we empower then through research activities for how to record and map stunting problems, what problems exist or also through community service activities through assisted villages where we will focus on involving various parties to work together the same as overcoming the problem of stunting,” he said.
He added, to be able to realize the Golden Generation of Indonesia which is the hope of all parties, of course, there must be synergy and togetherness in it. “We cannot solve this problem alone, we must be able to do it together, each has its main duties and functions, of course, it must be synergized, with synergy, togetherness, I’m sure everything will be overcome,” he continued.
