Singaraja – Ganesha University of Education (Undiksha) is committed to improving the quality of Human Resources (HR), especially in Bali in order to increase competitiveness. This commitment is supported by collaboration with the Association of Indonesian Private Universities (APTISI) Bali whose signing took place at the Undiksha Campus, Singaraja, Friday (22/10/2021). This event was also a meeting of the Bali Higher Education Leaders Forum.
Chancellor of Undiksha, Prof. Dr. I Nyoman Jampel, M.Pd., explained that in order to improve the quality of institutions, synergy and collaboration between universities is very necessary. The quality in question certainly leads to the implementation of the Tri Dharma of Higher Education, namely Education and Teaching, Research, and Community Service. “Because frankly, it’s a shame we don’t want higher education institutions that just exist, only carry out activities and graduate, but the quality is not maintained. This is what we have to take care of, how do all tertiary institutions really prioritize quality in order to be able to produce graduates who are competent, professional, competitive, and have character,” he said.
Regarding the form of the program, the Chancellor of Jampel stated that it could be related to Free Learning and Independent Campus (MBKM) which is a policy of the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research and Technology. It’s just that the program is still based on the spirit of each institution. Undiksha as an Education Personnel Institution specializes more in improving the quality of human resources, especially prospective teachers. “Because after all, Bali and Indonesia want to progress, so the teachers must be of high quality. Therefore, we should produce or produce more qualified teachers,” he added. Other collaborations can also be carried out as long as it is possible, such as strengthening internationalization at home and other programs that are the flagship of Undiksha.
Head of APTISI Region VIII Bali Dr. I Made Sukamerta, M.Pd., positively welcomed this collaboration in order to improve the quality of tertiary institutions, especially the private sector. He does not deny that the development of private universities in Bali is not all the same as that of the state, such as human resources and facilities. “That is what we will share in the future and the commitment of the Chancellor of Undiksha is very good where the Chancellor will be ready all out to help friends in the private sector so that education in Bali is equal, there is no connotation between the public and the private sector,” he said.
He also assessed the collaboration carried out towards the Tri Dharma of Higher Education. However, according to him, what is urgent is increasing the capacity of lecturers, especially young lecturers. Programs that need support are further studies or other programs. “Increasing the competence of young lecturers, we hope that soon, later if possible at Undiksha there will be a program to improve our human resources, especially our lecturers to be given the opportunity,” he said.
Meanwhile, Chairman of the Bali Higher Education Leadership Forum, Prof. Dr. Ir. Nyoman Gde Antara, M.Eng who is also the Chancellor of Udayana University stressed the importance of cooperation and collaboration of these tertiary institutions, especially in Bali. This is in order to improve the quality which leads to the realization of superior human resources. Let’s unite. We have to collaborate,” he exclaimed.
The activities of the Bali Higher Education Leadership Forum meeting were also filled with discussions of the Statutes and Bylaws (AD/ART) as well as formulating various types of cooperation that might be carried out. The program is not only limited to the Tri Dharma of Higher Education but also increases the capacity of campus human resources. (hms)
