Mangupura– Ganesha University of Education (Undiksha) continues to spur student achievements at the national and international levels. This was included as a priority program explained by the Deputy Chancellor for Student Affairs, Alumni and Public Relations, Prof. Dr. I Wayan Suastra, M.Pd., at the Undiksha Program Coordination and Development Meeting (Rakobang) for the 2022 fiscal year, Friday (4/12/2020).
In his brief presentation, Suastra said that from year to year, Undiksha’s achievements, especially from students, are getting more positive. These achievements are not limited to regional or national levels, but also to international levels, both in academic and non-academic fields. This achievement contributed to the ranking of the Student Rating Information System (SIMKATMAWA), which 2020 Undiksha is in 23rd position nationally. “Of course, we continue to push this achievement, especially the international one. This is also a priority in 2022. We are preparing students to be competitive in competition,” he said.
Accelerating this achievement, according to him, is to support the acceleration of realizing Undiksha’s vision, namely Becoming an Excellent University Based on the Tri Hita Karana Philosophy in Asia in 2045. “Therefore, we continue to accelerate this achievement which is balanced with intensive coaching and also budget support,” he explained.
Emphasis is also placed on holding competitions by Undiksha students, namely being able to collaborate with at least two tertiary institutions. “Don’t hold competitions with elementary school children anymore. But it is the tertiary level that can give birth to achievements at the regional, national, and international levels,” he said.
In the midst of increasingly fierce competition, students are also encouraged to have competence in the field of entrepreneurship and be able to become start-ups. Undiksha facilitated this through workshops and seminars with the UPT Career Development and Entrepreneurship (PKKM) as the organizer.
On this occasion, it was emphasized that in order to contribute to university rankings, students were asked to organize activities outside of their routine. In the sense of rationalizing activities on campus into activities that directly touch the community, such as through the Holistic Village Development and Empowerment Program (PHP2D). Apart from that, he also plays an active role in programs that lead to the Free Learning and Independent Campus (MBKM) policies launched by the Ministry of Education and Culture. “Activities like this are what we recommend. By going out into the community, students know directly the problems in the field. This can then be used as program material,” emphasized the academic who also served as the Postgraduate Director.
As an institution that also plays a role in “creating” superior Human Resources (HR), Undiksha also designs character-building programs, through seminars, workshops, and training related to nationalism and strengthening soft skills. “This character is important to increase competitiveness,” he said.
