Singaraja- Technical Implementation Unit for Guidance and Counseling Service or Unit Pelaksana Teknis Layanan Bimbingan dan Konseling (UPT-BK) held a seminar on Learning Transition from High School to University for Undiksha new students in 2022, Saturday (15/10/2022). The activity, which was opened by the Vice Rector for Academic Affairs and Cooperation, Dr. Gede Rasben Dantes, S.T., M.T.I., was conducted offline and online.
Rasben Dantes, who represented the Rector, said that this activity was very useful for new students who are currently still transitioning from high school to University. In University, new students must have a growth mindset. Students who want to make changes must adapt to the existing situation. Willing to learn, have curiosity, and can appreciate others. “Do not ever think of being the most important or smartest person because you maybe will be growth with many people here,” he said.
The existence of UPT-BK Services at Undiksha continued Rasben Dantes as a form of student service for students who need guidance and counselling services related to problems experienced, both academic and non-academic. Therefore, this seminar is very useful for Undiksha students, especially for new students.
On the other hand, the Head of UPT-BK, Dewi Arum WMP, S.Psi., M.A., explained that this activity was an annual routine activity carried out after the admission period for new students. He said that from several service activities that had been carried out, it was found that, in general, the problems experienced by students were rooted in a lack of adaptability in the early days of the transition from Higher Education/Vocational School to University. “There are various problems, the main one is related to self-management, including time management because in lectures it is different from learning at the high school level”, She explained.
Delivered further, in order to solve student problems, UPT-BK Undiksha Services also opened counselling services. In addition, it also forms peer tutors in each study program. “These peer tutors were previously given training. They can provide consulting services for students who have problems,” She added. (hms)
