Singaraja- Ganesha University of Education (Undiksha) continues to expand overseas cooperation. After previously discussing with the Consulate General of the People’s Republic of China in Denpasar, this A-accredited university also signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Dean of the Faculty of Oriental Language, Jilin International Studies University (JISU), Beijing, Monday (1/7/2019). The collaboration is related to educational development, especially in Indonesian and Mandarin.
Undiksha Chancellor, Prof. Dr. I Nyoman Jampel, M.Pd., responded positively to the offer of cooperation submitted through the Education Attache of the Indonesian Embassy (KBRI) Beijing, Yaya Sutarya, M.Pd. According to him, this collaboration is an effort to improve the quality of institutions, as well as support internationalization at home which was launched in 2019. “As soon as there was an offer to collaborate, we immediately responded positively,” he explained.
Undiksha is currently planning the formation of a Mandarin Language Study Program. Likewise, JISU has an Indonesian Language Study Program. Therefore, it is considered appropriate to complement each other with lecturer and student exchanges. “We can exchange lecturers or students. “We want this to work,” he explained, accompanied by a number of staff.
At the meeting which took place in the Ganesha I Room of the Rectorate, Chancellor Jampel also hoped that collaboration could be carried out in other fields, such as science and vocational education which is currently being promoted by Undiksha. “We continue to open opportunities for collaboration outside of Indonesian and Mandarin language education,” he said.
Undiksha is boosting foreign cooperation. This is also a way to accelerate the realization of the vision of becoming a superior university based on the Tri Hita Karana philosophy in Asia by 2045. The Human Resources (HR) owned are considered to be able to balance this policy. “Undiksha’s human resources are not inferior. Many Indonesian language lecturers can also speak English. “I don’t think it’s a problem in this collaboration,” he added.
Dean of JISU Oriental Language Faculty, Prof. Wang Zhiguo said that his party had collaborated with ten universities abroad in Mandarin language education. It is hoped that something similar can be done with Undiksha on an ongoing basis, even though it currently does not have a Mandarin Language Study Program. “Undiksha students can learn Mandarin there, for a month or a week. You can also learn about culture. Our students can also go to Undiksha to learn Indonesian. “We can also exchange lecturers,” he said.
Meanwhile, the Education Attache of the Indonesian Embassy in Beijing, Yaya Sutarya, said that China was experiencing very rapid development, especially in the field of education. The quality of human resources has advanced rapidly in a relatively short time. This is a very worthy basis for cooperation, including with Undiksha. “We have to learn from China, including from a business development perspective,” he said.
As Indonesia’s representative in Beijing, he said there were various things that could be collaborated on in the field of education, including outside language education, such as maritime affairs and chemistry. He also emphasized that the Indonesian government is paying attention to this in the form of scholarships through the Ministry of Research, Technology and Higher Education and the Ministry of Education and Culture. “I want universities that are not yet large to be accommodated in this program. Should get the same thing. “Including for Undiksha,” he stressed. (hms)
