Singaraja- A legal seminar on law enforcement with a restorative justice approach took place at the Ganesha University of Education (Undiksha), Friday (1/7/2022). This seminar is a collaboration between the Buleleng State Prosecutor’s Office and the Legal Studies Study Program, Faculty of Law and Social Sciences, Ganesha University of Education (Undiksha).
The seminar, which took place in the Undiksha Rectorate Room Ganesha III, was attended directly by the Head of the Buleleng State Prosecutor’s Office, Rizal Syah Comfortable. He conveyed the series of seminars on Adhyaksa’s 62nd Birthday as one of the spaces to give Law students an understanding of Restorative Justice (R.J.). It was explained that RJ was the policy of the Attorney General of the Republic of Indonesia as outlined in the Attorney General’s Regulation Number 15 of 2000 concerning the Termination of Prosecution Based on Restorative Justice. Limitations for termination of prosecution based on this policy, namely that the suspect is the first time to commit a crime, the value of evidence or losses incurred as a result of the crime is no more than IDR 2.5 million, and the crime is punishable by a fine or is punishable by imprisonment for not more than five years.
Dean of FHIS Undiksha, Prof. Dr. Sukadi, who represented the Chancellor, expressed his appreciation for the collaboration in holding this seminar. “With this seminar, I hope that studies on the law will be closer to practical activities, how the law is implemented, how law enforcement is carried out by law enforcement agencies, one of which is the Buleleng District Attorney’s Office,” he said accompanied by the Head of the Department Law and Citizenship Studies, Dr. Dewa Gede Sudika Mangku.
According to him, this activity is very much in line with the policy of the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology which asks all universities in Indonesia to implement the independent learning curriculum. In the implementation of the curriculum, in the implementation of education and teaching, universities not only involve teaching staff but are also able to involve practitioners. “Therefore through this policy, where education in higher education institutions will inevitably have to be coordinated with practical education. How that knowledge is implemented in practical activities, especially the practice of law enforcement and the enforcement of justice and that is very beneficial for students and it is our duty to build it,” he said.
Seeing its very important essence, this academic from Payangan District, Gianyar Regency hopes that the collaboration between Undiksha and the Buleleng State Prosecutor’s Office will continue, including in the fields of research and community service. “Our hope is that both lecturers and law students will not only synergize, but how can our knowledge synergize both theoretically and practically, so that the graduates produced by PTNs are truly ready to work, ready to compete, and ready to compete in today’s digital era,” he concluded.
In line with the Coordinator of the Law Study Program, Ni Putu Rai Yuliartini, S.H., M.Pd.
