Singaraja– Ganesha University of Education (Undiksha) is targeting more and more visiting professors from universities abroad. This is a form of support for the success of internationalization at home which was launched in 2019. “Next year the Chancellor is planning even more,” said the Head of the Undiksha Learning Development and Quality Assurance Institute (LPPPM), Prof. Dr. AAIN. Marhaeni, M.A at farewell with Prof. Dr. Estrella R. Pacis, Ph.D., academician Mariano Marcos State University, Philippines, at the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences (FMIPA), 20 November 2019.
Prof. Pacis is a visiting professor at FMIPA. She not only fills lectures in mathematics but also becomes a resource person in seminars. This was by Prof. Marhaeni was greatly appreciated for being able to provide a new color for Undiksha which is a developing university. “We really appreciate the presence of Prof. Pacis in Undiksha. Of course, we hope this can improve the quality of Undiksha,” she said.
Undiksha has carried the vision of becoming a superior university based on the Tri Hita Karana philosophy in Asia in 2045. To realize this, visiting professors is one of the strategies that can be taken. From that also, it will encourage students and lecturers to be able to master foreign languages that can increase competitiveness at the international level. “Undiksha launched internationalization at home. This program is one of them as a support, “she added. This academic from Klungkung also wants the same feedback from Undiksha lecturers, namely being able to do visiting professors at universities abroad. This is also the desire of the leadership of the institution and has even been followed up with cooperation.
Dean of the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, Prof. Dr. I Nengah Suparta, M.Sc., really appreciated Prof.’s readiness. Pacis for two months to share his experiences with his lecturers and students, one of which is through a bilingual learning seminar. “This is a way to prepare more competent students and lecturers,” he said. He hopes that this program can continue to run in a sustainable manner, so that what is the hope for the institution as the home of the international community can be realized. “From this visiting professor, we will also continue with discussions of other collaborations in the field of educational development,” he explained.
Meanwhile, Prof. Pacis admitted that it was extraordinary to be able to attend Undiksha because he could share and gain experience. In his testimony, he stated that the sense of togetherness at Undiksha was very strong. “I am very happy to be here. The togetherness of lecturers and students is very good. I really like that,” she said. She also admitted that he really wanted to be present again at Undiksha if there was an opportunity. (hms)
