Singaraja- Ganesha University of Education (Undiksha) held its LX graduation ceremony, Saturday (11/30/2019). The graduation which took place in the campus Auditorium was attended by 412 graduates from various study programs. With an academic degree, they are asked to have good interpersonal skills which are one of the assets in facing global competition. This was conveyed by the Chancellor of Undiksha, Prof. Dr. I Nyoman Jampel, M.Pd.
Realizing superior human resources, explained Undiksha had carried out breakthroughs both in terms of input, process, output, and outcome. Starting with a professional recruitment system to improve the quality of human resources through training, advanced studies, and other superior human resource development programs. One of the programs launched this year is Internationalization at Home. The program aims to increase the knowledge, skills, and international experience of Undiksha’s human resources which are currently in global demand. “With this, the competitiveness of Undiksha’s human resources increases as the times change which are increasingly complex. This is in accordance with Undiksha’s vision, which is to excel based on the philosophy of Tri Hita Karana in Asia in 2045,” explained Jampel.
In addition to programs to improve science and technology, a character-building program was also rolled out for human resources within Undiksha through a character-building program for educators and education staff, and students. In other words, Undiksha’s human resources are encouraged to be competitive scientifically and also competitive in character. As global competition increases in the era of the industrial revolution 4.0, which is marked by faster changes and increasingly fierce competition, the need for quality human resources is inevitable. “Higher education as the last line of education must be able to form human resources who are honest, hardworking, collaborative, solutive and entrepreneurship. This is also Undiksha’s serious concern,” he said.
As a higher education institution that relies on the noble values of education, Undiksha, according to the Chancellor who was born in 1959, has made the quality of human resources an integrated part of institutional development from the start, including the quality of graduates. Undiksha, through its graduates, places great importance on instilling the values of kindness and wisdom as the core of character education and is far higher in value than producing graduates who are competent but lack character. “In other words, Undiksha graduates must be superior and have character,” he said. If this can be done well, it is believed that the development of nationalism and universal nationalism will also be realized optimally.
At this graduation, the highest achieving graduate at the university level was I Wayan Adi Sparta, M.Kom., Computer Science Study Program, Masters Degree, GPA: 3.81 with a 2-year study period. He received the title of Praise; Komang Eva Suryastini, S.Pd., Family Welfare Education Study Program, Undergraduate Education Level, GPA: 3.74, with a study period of 3 years and 11 months, predicate of Honor; and I Gede Leorendra Arya Mahasaputra, A.Md., Informatics Management Study Program, Diploma III, GPA: 3.62, study period 2 years and 11 months, predicate of Honor.
After graduation, Adi Sparta hopes that Undiksha can get better and more competitive, including being able to realize the vision that is often echoed. No less important, according to him, in order to support learning, improvement of infrastructure is also deemed necessary to get attention. “I am very proud to be able to study here. Now learning is good, but it is still hoped that in the future it will be even better,” he said. The same thing was also expressed by Eva Suryastini. “Hopefully Undiksha can be even better,” he added. (hms)
