Singaraja- Ganesha University of Education (Undiksha) Postgraduate Program held a national seminar, Wednesday (8/1/2020). The seminar which took place in the Rectorate’s Ganesha III Room discussed the importance of big data and data literacy in the era of the industrial revolution 4.0.
This seminar was presented by Dr. techn. Saiful Akbar from the Bandung Institute of Technology and Dr. Gede Indrawan who is the Head of Undiksha’s Computer Science Masters Study Program. The participants were not only students but also the general public. “This seminar is one of the media to provide information about the importance of big data and data literacy in the era of the industrial revolution 4.0,” said the Chair of the Committee, I Ketut Agus Juliandana in his report.
Meanwhile, Vice Chancellor I Undiksha, Dr. Gede Rasben Dantes, S.T., M.TI., said that in today’s era, data literacy is very important. This is not only to increase knowledge but also to strengthen competitiveness. “So, from this seminar, you will get knowledge, insight, and experience about big data and data literacy that can be put to good use for your own benefit, such as the world of work,” he explained.
Currently, according to him, the availability of data is very large in various fields. But knowledge of it still tends to be “poor”. This must be changed, so that the availability of data and knowledge runs in balance. “How in the future can we extract data and be able to provide valuable information. This is important,” he concluded. (hms)
