Singaraja- The Faculty of Education, Ganesha University of Education (FIP-Undiksha) held an academic seminar, Wednesday (4/3/2020). The seminar which took place at the Undiksha Auditorium discussed education in the 4.0 industrial revolution era. The speakers presented were from the National University of Malaysia, Prof. Madya Dr. Salleh Amat and Lt Kdr Dr. Abu Yasid Abu Bakr, Ph.D., M.Ed.
Dean of FIP Undiksha, Dr. I Ketut Gading, M.Psi after opening the event revealed that this seminar really needed to be held to broaden the horizons of students who would later enter the world of work. According to him, in the era of the industrial revolution, there have been many changes. A number of jobs have been replaced by technology. On the other hand, there are also a number of new jobs. Therefore, there must be the ability to adapt. “This seminar discusses education in the 4.0 era. The goal is to find a solution in order to formulate an education system to face the industrial revolution 4.0,” he said.
In response to this, universities, including FIP, also take a strategic role. What is given to students is not limited to material according to the field, but also encourages the emergence of characters who always adapt to the demands of the times. “Whether graduates of secondary education and higher education, we hope they can continue to adapt, so they can live well,” he said.
In addition to the era of the industrial revolution 4.0, FIP also pays serious attention to the independent campus and independent learning policies that were rolled out by the Minister of Education and Culture. This has been supported by the expansion of cooperation with universities abroad to improve the quality of education. One of them is the Faculty of Education at the National University of Malaysia. The collaboration offered is in the form of visiting professors, student exchanges, joint research, and joint publications. This collaboration received a positive response from the Dean of the Faculty of Education for UKM, Prof. Dato’ Dr. Norazah Mohammad Nordin In fact, he offered Undiksha lecturers to be able to continue their doctoral education at UKM with a Ph.D. “I as UKM, come to pick up,” he said. This collaboration is expected to support each other so that what was initiated can run as expected. “There must be the same spirit,” he said. Regarding cooperation with foreign universities, he said that many have been carried out, including those in Indonesia. (hms)
