Strengthening the implementation of Pancasila values is one of the things emphasized at this conference.
The conference which took place at the Sunari Hotel, Lovina, Buleleng Regency was attended by hundreds of participants from various universities in Indonesia, Malaysia, Thailand, Canada, and so on. The main speaker was a member of the Constitutional Court, Prof. Dr. M. Guntur Hamzah, S.H., M.H., and Undiksha Chancellor Key Speaker, Prof. Dr. I Wayan Lasmawan, M.Pd. In addition, there were three invited speakers, namely Prof. Linyuan Guo-Brenan, Ph.D. from University Prince Edward Island Canada, Prof. Dr. Kokom Komalasari, M.Pd from the Indonesian Education University, and Prof. Dr. I Nengah Suastika, M.Pd., from Undiksha.
Chairman of the Conference Organizing Committee, Prof. Dr. Prayoga Bestari, S.Pd., M.Si conveyed this conference as a space for sharing ideas from academics. One of the things that became the emphasis at this conference was the importance of strengthening Pancasila’s moral values for citizens in the global era. According to him, Pancasila is the foundation for conducting relations with foreign countries. “Call it jumping, if you want to jump you have to make preparations, the repulsion must be strong. What is called repulsion is the foundation that our nation must have, namely Pancasila which is also developed in everyday life,” he said.
Delivered further, the implementation of Pancasila values is not only at the level of speech but must also be real. It is also very important to instill in students, teachers, and lecturers in the field of citizenship. “So it’s not just saying I believe. But truly their faith is implemented, so that when their faith is strong they want to interact with any country, whatever ideology they have an identity. A just and civilized humanity is not only tolerant of other humans, but he must be sure that he is an integral part of God’s creatures who can respect and be respected by fellow humans,” he said.
The collaboration between UPI and Undiksha in organizing conferences and implementing other programs related to the Tri Dharma of Higher Education is expected to continue. One of these collaborations is to increase the achievement of the Main Performance Indicators (IKU) of Higher Education. “We hope this with Undiksha is not the end but rather the beginning to be even more productive both in the fields of research, community service and in the field of journals so that both national and international publications can be further improved,” concluded Prayoga Bestari.
