Ganesha University of Education (Undiksha) does not only focus on providing bachelor’s, master’s, and doctoral education. However, there is also Professional Teacher Education (PPG) which has been running since 2013. Specifically in 2018, the largest state university in North Bali enrolled 851 students. Consists of PPG SM3T, PPG Pre-Service, PPG In-Service, and PPG for Special Regional Teachers.
Deputy Chancellor I Undiksha, Prof.Dr. Ida Bagus Putu Arnyana, M.Si., explained that specifically for PPG SM3T, there were 68 students, consisting of Indonesian Language Education, English Language Education, Elementary School Teacher Education, and Physical Education study programs. Meanwhile, Pre-Service PPG is divided into three waves with a total of 102 students from PGSD, Mathematics, PAUD, and English study programs. This PPG is filled with a six-month workshop in the form of in-depth learning of subject matter, in-depth study of pedagogy, preparation of syllabus, lesson plans, and Classroom Action Research (PTK) proposals. There is also PPL in the form of teaching training and PTK. “There are also online knowledge tests and performance tests. “The minimum passing score is 76,” he explained, Wednesday (7/11/2018).
Specifically for In-Service PPG, is divided into three waves with a total of 567 people from Indonesian Language Education, English Language Education, Primary School Teacher Education, Physical Education, Mathematics, PAUD, Computer and Information Technology, Balinese Language Education, Science, Culinary and Chemistry. Students who are already teaching take part in online lectures for 3 months, workshops related to preparing teaching preparation (syllabus, lesson plans, and assistance) as well as developing PTK proposals. “There is also a three-week PPL. The activities are the same as the Pre-Service PPG. Likewise with the exam,” he explained.
Meanwhile, for the Special Regional Teacher PPG, 114 people participated in the Science and PGSD study programs. Ida Bagus Arnyana explained that PPG was entered as a formal education after taking a bachelor’s degree in education. Undiksha is trusted by the Directorate of Learning and Student Affairs, Ministry of Research, Technology and Higher Education, and has received approval from 22 study programs. “Specifically for 2018, there are eleven study programs implementing PPG. “The average pass rate at Undiksha is 99.38 percent,” he said.
It was further stated that these students were deployed to a number of schools in Buleleng Regency. This is also in collaboration with the Education Department. There are interesting things in this program. Students who took part not only came from Bali, but also from Kalimantan, Sulawesi, West Nusa Tenggara (NTB), and East Nusa Tenggara (NTT). Through this, the name Undiksha can become increasingly known to a wider audience. “After participating in PPG, Undiksha became the participant’s alma mater. “We hope that after returning, we can promote Undiksha too,” he hoped.
