Singaraja- Hundreds of teacher candidates conducted Teacher Profession Education (PPG) Batch II 2024 at Ganesha University of Education (Undiksha). Students from various provinces in Indonesia attended an academic orientation, on Thursday, September 5, 2024.
A total of 248 students are enrolled in 9 study programs: Science, Informatics, Chemistry, PGSD (Primary School Teacher Education), PKn (Civil), Hospitality, Visual Arts, and Mechanical Engineering. The students, hailing from 13 provinces across Indonesia, will begin their courses on September 9, 2024. This academic orientation is intended to provide an overview of the learning activity ahead.
Undiksha’s PPG Coordinator, Drs. I Gede Nurjaya, M.Pd., mentioned that these PPG Teacher candidates are lucky. Firstly, they have the opportunity to study at Undiksha, which has excellent accreditation for its PPG programs. Secondly, many of these candidates have already been positioned to be appointed, at least as PPPK. “It is increasingly difficult to secure such a position, so this is something to be grateful for,” he remarked.
With these advantages, the students are encouraged to fully engage in the PPG program and demonstrate their competencies and professionalism. In his speech, the Vice Rector for Academic Affairs and Cooperation, Prof. Dr. Gede Rasben Dantes, S.T., M.T.I., emphasized the importance of strong commitment among PPG participants, urging them to prioritize the teaching profession. He described teaching as a calling, with the mission to educate the next generation for a better future.
Furthermore, Prof. Dantes noted that the teaching profession now receives appropriate recognition and rewards. He urged the PPG students to become teachers who connect with the hearts of their students. “Be their friend, be like a parent to them once you graduate from this PPG program. The responsibility of a teacher is immense, as you have the power to shave the next generation. So, strive to be a great teacher “.
These PPG Programs serve as an important foundation for producing excellent teachers. In the future, it is hoped that PPG will integrate more closely with academic education, similar to professional training programs in medicine, midwifery, and nursing.
